How to make a blog?

I need to know how to make a blog so people can come and talk and also upload files jpegs would be fine. This is for an art class that I am in. We need to come up with some logos and it is hard for all of us to meet outside of class. If we could create a blog so we could talk and upload our files, it would be great. Is this hard to do? Have have HTML experience but I know this is beyon d HTML. I know there is probably some software that can do this for you but I rather learn how to do it myself. Please HELP!

Yikes, a blog is pretty advanced stuff and requires a lot of different areas of knowledge. It is not a good project to start on for a beginner. You should download and install an open source blog, like wordpress.

Noone is going to walk a beginner through how to make a blog, mainly because their are so many different steps. If you are dead set on making one yourself, you should buy a php/mysql book, or find a step-by-step example on the web.

You could narrow your question down to something like, "How do I create a form that insert data into a database." Then you could make another thread that asks, "How do I display data from a database." People are more prone to answer specific questions like those.

why don't you just install an existing cms like drupal?

If its for an art class and wont concentrate on functionality, just create a form and then one to retrieve data and an image uploader on a seperate page and have a simple login feature

Would take a while to learn how to do it. Also making an good blog, eg like wordpress would take you months.

lol you can't just learn to make one. If you knew php and mysql you would be able to ship one up quick. I'm not a php geek, so I usually do as much as I can, then get someone else to do all the hardcore stuff- seriously, just grab an open source one and mod the crap outta it, or pay someone :)

Look into www.wordpress.org (even lets you host it on there site. yourname.wordpress.org)
