Hi Guys,

I know this site has been posted on here before but I'd like to know if anyone knows how they did it?

www.agencynet.com

I'm guessing its mainly 3d (3dsMax?) with obviously Flash but the bit that bugs me is how they bluescreened the animated people in there?

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Andy

A simple 3d program (blender could do it) and After Effects is my guess.

Pulling the alpha channele is easy with AfterEffects (as suggested). Then, it's just dropped into flash as a video clip. That's the easiest part of what they did.

Not to slight their work, because it is good and at the time was ahead of its time and still is unique. But rotoscoping is not very hard at all. Which basically what they did. And no I havent really done a site such as this one before so it is safe to say no I have not done better. :D

I don't even think they rotoscoped the characters. I think it's just video filmed on a green screen and keyed out.

rotoscope, green screen, its all the same. Either one is not hard in AE....I think I meant to say chroma-keyed

Not to split hairs, but rRotoscoping is where an artist animates on top of the video, then the video is removed. Linklater did this on A Scanner Darkly. I've keyed before, and it is easy. I've never tried rotoscoping, but I think it would be fun.

so have we decided how this was made? lol

just seems cool how they've got little people there doing motions. sort of reminds me of those girls sitting on the lawn chairs and when u clicked them, they spazzed out and say a tone that u could use as a piano. can't remember the name of the site but im sure one of you have seen it.

the bikini girl piano.

Yeah, that's what DDD and I explained. They filmed the people on a greenscreen, then chroma-keyed them out using AfterEffects and exported the file to a video FLA using AfterEffects. Finally, they dropped in each person as an individual video clip (like a movie clip but with video). If you watch, the people are just run on a loop.

To me, the background transitions are more impressive.

best site I've seen in a while. I wasted a half hour on the crossword puzzle. Excellently done!
