Would love to hear your comments on this! Thanks, again... :smirk:

thats sick! So cool, its kind of like the sports logos, MLB is the most common, but just a little bit different so it makes it really cool. :thumb:

too much detail on the chin. although it is nice. i like the type treatment on the other one better

Thanks guys! Know about the detail level on the chin, but don't think that's a big issue... Tried to keep the type simpler this time, but i see your point. ;)

yea, its cool :) but you might wanna reconsider the stubbly detail on the chin. probably just be for online presentation but my guess is that it wouldnt translate well to print(and any good design studio knows that good translation between screen and print is esential for any logo)
Good job though: A- :)

I'm afraid "so" is too thin, maybe you can try widen it a little bit and use some gray, not to compete with "me"
just a thought!

Yar, lose the facial hair.
I love it though. It says a lot.

It's not so much as the transition between screen and print that make detailed logos a no-no these days. It is the size that you use it. I think that the detail is great and it will work on "most" media.
If I were you I would run some tests. Place it on the smallest thing you will ever have your logo on. If it works, you are good to go. Since you have it as a vector and have no fancy 3D going on, you will be safe at any scale.
Great logo!

I agree....lose the facial hair :)
If it's so.me, wouldn't you want to include the period in the text as well?
My immediate impression on seeing the logo is that (with the addition of a pipe) it looks like Basil Rathbone aka Sherlock Holmes:

Nicely done! better than the other version though now some may read it as some and not so me...
Glad I could help:)

thanks again, MLB was not in my mind when designing this nor Sherlock Holmes ;)
About the facial hair, we'll have to see, it's a part of me...
And Olli, you gave me this idea ;) Thanx! :D

the nose is fine. the chin hair is fine.
i agree the 'so' is thin.
make a large version with more detail and a small version which has simplified lines.

very baseball but nice.
aside from what others have said about the chin(keep it if i works on small scale) i would look into trying that text inside the rounded rectangle. You may need to move your pic outline a touch left to give your text some more space but I would be interesed in seeing the text inside the shape.
Also have you tried an alternative where a few of those rounded edges are straight so you have a mix of both round and straight? I would keep the top left rounded and then try to straighten either the top right or bottom left.
Also try to have a mix of a bold and semi bold font instead of bold and normal, see if that works better.
One last thing, what are the colour combinations you will use for the logo/type?

Why you dont you tell him to remove his lips as well? If he has chin hair IRL why would he take it off?

That's okay mike ;) Easier to see what you mean. The facial hair is a part of me so i will keep it, but i like how you spaced out the "so" and "me" from eachother. :thumb:
Esherido: I wasn't that good to start with either, but do it often and you'll get better!

By tracing only the outline of your nose, you're making it look bigger than it appears in life. Even if you've got a monster nose, we're talking marketing here - make it a bit smaller, it'll sell better.

October 9th, 2006, 05:12 AM
haha who's afraid of a big nose? It's a bit unique to have a larger nose and if it's unique maybe you will remeber it, and if you remeber a logo isn't that good? I say let's keep the big nose!
We big nosed people shall be proud! we shall never surrender! :P

I don't like the "so me" spaced out like that. I think it's a lot stronger when pushed together. Good outline, chin hair looks great at this size, probably will shrink alright as well. The nose comments are funny, no one is going to care what his nose looks on here, and for the record it looks completely normal to me.
It's a cool design and would make a great business card.

nice job! :glasses:
i think your rectangle shape leaves a little too much negative space unfilled. have you tried making it a little shorter or even using a square instead?
i agree that there is too much detail on the chin. i don't think it's neccessary that a logo have a goatee, haha, besides, as the logo gets smaller that's gonna get cruddy.
good start tho.

You've got a monster nose. I'd tone it down a bit. id hate to hear what u said if you say my silhouette then ... :nose:
seriously - the nose is fine, and the hair is fine in my opinion too. it makes it unique...otherwhise it would look 100% smooth vector clipart-ish.
plus - with resizing as efficient as it is in photoshop - it will not get cruddy i reckon....test it out tho, but i reckon its worth keeping...

I liked the other logo design much more than this. It took me 2 seconds to think of the MLB logo so I'm afraid the originality factor is really low on this logo.

dude, I love the logo..period! I can't believe some people are talking about shrinking your nose...OMG, it's your own nose..lol..."soYOU". No wonder so many people are pressured to go under the knife these days. Yes I know beauty sells, but it's just a vector logo. The chin hair and nose looks fine to me!

First of all, forgive me for editing your work, but it's just to visulize my idea. So I really think that you should stick to the original idea, that is just a shape. The last version is ok, but it doesn't apply to all of the enviroments, like posters, websites etc. In short "KiSS" (Google if somebody doesn't know this little designer anecdote). My main idea about this is to make the "e" a corner of the logo. Mayby it would be more visible if you would enlarge the font size. And I really think that you should stick to "so me", or "so.me" because while "some" is perfectly ok for us designers, a normal person could missinterpret it.
