I am making a Flash resource site for the college campus I work on. I will most likely be doing the tutorials in Captivate and loading them into my flash site. I have a long way to go, but you can see what I have so far. Any suggestions/critiques would be awesome.

Can you guys see the site? I'm not totally sure if it can be viewed off campus.

its not bad...but it seems a bit big. almost out of proportion. that, and the text/buttons up top are way to dark IMO.
good start :)

A tutorial site completely in flash? Hmmm, I really like how you have done the site tho its great, but top buttons are a tad bit to dark and maybe loose the extremely bright field picture, or put some alpha on it or something because it just distracts from the rest of the site.

the top buttons kill it for me. I like the style looks very trendy (in a good way). Fix those top buttons and you have winner

Looks quite nice, but it's a bit dark. Ordinarily I'd think that's okay, but a tutorial site should be as easy on the eyes as possible for long reading. I have to agree about those top buttons as well - kind of amateurish looking compared to the rest of the layout. Also, you might want to embed the .swf correctly. I have to ask myself why would I want to learn about flash from a flash site I have to click to activate. Finally I find myself wondering what a big empty field has to do with flash tutorials - doesn't really say "webcoding" to me. Overall, though, it's looking good. Hope the content matches once there..

Looks good, but if the site is a flash resources site... I can't really see the connection between the field picture. It looks nice tho, but im not sure if it should be there. Replace it with something that's more related to the content;)
Apart from that and the top buttons, I think it looks really good:thumb:

Top buttons need funking up a little - perhaps matching over-style with the menu on the left. Otherwise, ace.

Thanks guys, that's some good feedback.
but it seems a bit big. almost out of proportion.
What res are you at? It looks good at 1280x1024 for me.
The top buttons don't look dark on my monitor, I'll test it out on another one that isn't so bright.
site is definitely ok but the the content is not matching the background frame, at plz align it to center ... best of Luck
Explain that a little more, I'm not really understanding you. I have actionscipt aligning the site to the middle of the stage.
Ordinarily I'd think that's okay, but a tutorial site should be as easy on the eyes as possible for long reading.
I agree, but I am going to be doing adobe captivate presentations for the tutorials. There will be little/no reading, just watching.
Also, you might want to embed the .swf correctly. I have to ask myself why would I want to learn about flash from a flash site I have to click to activate.
Yeah good point. I forgot to check it in IE thus far.
Finally I find myself wondering what a big empty field has to do with flash tutorials - doesn't really say "webcoding" to me.
I just threw a cool panorama shot into the site. I might find another one before the initial launch. What I plan to do is use AE to have a nice transition/animation effect on the large image. There will also be some text on the image displaying the latest Flash news.
Thanks again for the feedback. I'll try to post again when I get some more done on the site, but I have other work to do also:(

I would reduce the size of the header graphic unless you intend to load content there as it doesn't leave much room for content underneath

Looks pretty neat...
The first thing I thought to myself when looking at that site was that the top buttons ruin the whole design.
Oh the topics rollovers, it would be better if the rollover reacted within the whole box, not just on the text.
You can see a feint box around the MSC logo...i'd try and remove it, looks wierd.
Other than that, looks pretty coolio, lovin' that photo :hr:

hmnnn I guess I'm once again the one who doesn't like it :P quite honestly... looks very standardishly, boring. Not to say that a tutorial site should be uber-graphic'd out but I'm just not feelin it at all.

i think the logo and the top navigation are both hideous. the rest of the site isn't bad.
