Hey guys. Sorry I don't get to post too much anymore but school has left me with little time for my computer. I just finished a portfolio site for myself and was looking for some feedback. It's quite simple, but that's what i'm goin for. Let me know what you think.

I think the general idea is good, but it just looks way too dull. You need to put in some pictures of some kind, and maybe use some more of the browser space. If someone with hires screen setup sees this, it will be tiny.

When the page loads, there should be something going on, I was waiting a while before I tried pressing some buttons.

Agree that the red is horrible and not easy to read at all.

red's bad, serifed font for content is bad, colour scheme is a bit dull. Like the animation though.

I love the idea you got going there with the sections popping out of the bar. There is a lot you can do to improve though.

- Get you a logo and better typography overall. Put your logo on top of the bar so that it stands out more.

- Speed up your animation. Set your fps to about 40. It will make a vast difference on how your site feels when navigating.

- Do something with that preload, it is weak.

- You need some images/graphics to spice things up a little. having just text is pretty boring.

Good luck, I think you got a good thing going.

Serif fonts aren't always bad, if used correctly they can add a lot to the elegence of the site. you just need to make sure that the font is legible, this can usually be accomplished by upping the kerning a little to seperate the letters more.

In general I would say stick to san serif, but I have seen serif fonts used well many a time.

Edit - Looking at this design I would like to rephrase, serif fonts the for body text are generally not a good idea, but as headers and for some navigation it can work well.

I'm not saying all serifed fonts are bad all the time, just in this case.

Thank you everyone for the input. I got a lot of good stuff to work with. I have a question though, is there a standard frame rate I should be working in? I have one person telling me that I should change it to 40. Another person telling me to change it to 20. I usually make them at 30 fps and I think it looks good. What should I do?

Yeah, I see where you're going with this and I like it.
Its simplistic and unique. Nice job. :)
