i just have partially completed a site for a client.
I have only the bands/forum/contact pages viewable (the others will have similar look and feel)
heres the address:

http://www.rakerecords.com/test/Rake.html

The colors are unegotiable unfortunately, but other than that any major critiscms on things i may have overlooked ??
cheers for any input in advance :)

i like the overall design (excluding the colour), the menu bar is quite nice the way the words bounce around on rollover.
the only thing i would say to add apart from content in a preloader for the whole thing. I thaught it was loaded and then a couple of seconds later the main bit popped up.

it's pretty good. If you could make it so that the tracks start playing when they're only partially loaded that would be better rather than having to wait for the full thing before it even starts.

have you chosen a pixel font for your content?
The overall layout is good and the transitions are clean.
Very interesting font-kinda looks like old disney cartoon title fonts.

The music takes way to long. I am using cable, and I did not have the patience to wait.

1. why not center it horizontally and vertically in a 1x1 table?

2. i think other people have commented on this before, but personally, i don't like the font you have used...i think it takes away from the page and makes it look unprofessional. you could leave the font on the "Rake Records" part even, but i feel that would be the only place it would be appropriate.

i don't want to come off sounding so negative, because i do think you have a solid design...i just think it would look much better with different fonts (and different colors!)

have you ever thought about making two designs, one as it is now and the other with different fonts/colors and presenting them to your client? just a thought.

i wish you nothing but the best of luck :)

hmm ive been wracking my brains all weekend over this site , however the client seems to love it so even though many of your suggestions are good i think i will only address functionality ones as they like the design so much.
The mp3 player definately needs some work i have made a better one now so ill get that on there, also 'teet' good idea even though the client likes it i think ill make an alternative text version to see if it looks any better.

**** it, thought that was the prob ...!
right heres my dilema , i have a dynamic text structure which doesnt work with embedded fonts (bizarely) so is there any way i could have the font download on to the users PC during the preload stage or flash sniffer??
like embedding it there or downloading it to users PC invisibly?
If there is a way id love to know and if there isnt what is the solution to the problem as the dynamic effect of the text wont work with embedded font...help some one !!!
(now i understand why so many people mentioned the text times new roman sucks)

dont you just select the dynamic textbox, and click on 'Character' - that should embed the font surely?
