Hi

A client wants a site that he can upload videos videos to be played through flash, a bit like youtube only he will be the only contributor.

I've had a look on youtube and it doesn't seem to specify a format for the files, but looks like some flash uploader of sorts.

Which version of flash do I need to do this? I've only got MX but could budget into the build the need to get 8 studio. Does the flash convert any format and what does it convert it to?

Thanks

the format you tube uses is .flv its called Flash Video. with Flash 8 Profetional only you can encode into flv format.

But all is not lost :) there are hundreds of programs out there that will convert any video into .flv the format you are looking for and with Flash MX you can still use .flv files but you cant make them thats the only difference.

if your on a buget just look on google or yahoo for something like avi to flv or mpeg to flv. stuff like that

for example i use Video to Flash Converter PRO (http://www.geovid.com/Video_to_Flash_Converter_Pro/), can recommend it to you. the quality is really great, i must admit. among other tools i've tried it's one of the best due to its options, quality and price.
