Illustrator - Pathfinder

I made some brush strokes, then I subtracted some shapes out of them using pathfinder. Now all the gaps in the brush work are filled in with color. How do I unsubtract the shapes and make the strokes go back to normal?

did you expand your pathfinder option? (apprearance). If you expanded the pathfinder option then you can't revert back to it's original state, if you havent expanded then you can just remove the shape via edit options/appearance window or just use your direct selection tool (white arrow 'a') and click the pathfinder shape and simply delete it.
