View Full Version : web-based MSN Messenger?

It's my question day today :P

Anyway, do any of you guys know a good web-based (and free) MSN Messenger? Messenger is being blocked by the firewall at my work, which is not cool, especially when I have nothing to do. Instead of reading the forum every 15 minutes I could annoy a couple of people in my list... I know there are some, but I just can't find them.

Thanks!

It exists, but it's not free here: www.mister-i.com
The interface sucks too. It worked for 3 days... now I have to pay if I want to use it again.

its not web based, its a regualr messenger, but it allows you to connect to AIM, MSN, ICQ, IRC, and YAHOO. try setting it up like normal, and if it wont conenct, then i believe you can mess with the preferences and perhaps get it working. :)

*edit*
woops, just saw your edit. hehehe

Tried this one, didn't work either...
It really has to be web-based, not too well-known, 'cause they block everything here!!

Illuminae
May 14th, 2003, 10:38 AM
yeha, but that can be web based. i dunno how cuz i didnt read too much, so maybe i'm wrong, but i'm pretty sure it can be just an inline messenger.

TheOrangeOne

trillian seems to be working, but not well .it connects for about 10 mins, then goes again. What did you mean by playing with the settings anyway?

orange - look into the preferences... see if theres anything you can tweak there, like firewall settings or something. also, im not sure how integrity works, but i have found a few other solutions perhaps to you guys's dilemma

Odigo.org is blocked here, but I'm going to give the other one a try tomorrow morning. If it works, I'll virtually kiss your feet. ;)

Illuminae
May 14th, 2003, 12:09 PM

TheOrangeOne
May 14th, 2003, 12:10 PM

Nothing works! That Lycos thingy (even the one I don't have to install) totally blocks. CRAP COMPANY!!

Illuminae
May 15th, 2003, 03:45 AM

Kajinku
May 15th, 2003, 03:52 AM
Yeah, I tried everything. I thought "yay" when I saw the Lycos thingy connecting, but then it blocked. The other ones are "access denied". Stupid American company with its stupid American firewall to stop stupid American online messengers. ;)

Illuminae
May 15th, 2003, 03:55 AM

EDIT: Nevermind, this doesn't work either...

OK, I need a favour... can someone post the *direct link* to download the Odigo messenger at www.odigo.org?

I need it to right click the link and choose "save target as".
Yes, I'm still trying to find a way. :)

Please please please please please please please please! :)

TheOrangeOne
May 19th, 2003, 06:25 AM
want me to e-mail the file to you?

Kajinku
May 19th, 2003, 07:09 AM
No, I found the direct link on www.download.com. I installed it and everything but blocks when trying to connect to MSN. I really need a 100% web based one, where I don't need to install anything. Like ICQ Go (which works by the way).

Thanks anyway! :)

hi, not sure if you've found any solutions yet. i have the same problems at work but what i did was once MSN is installed, i rename the file msnmsgr.exe to msnmsgr1.exe - under program files folder. try that. it worked for me.
