Lately I have seen a lot of people with custom XP themes, yet I STILL dont know hoe to install them. I know there are several programs out there but some seem to need to edit the 'extheme.dll' I dont personally know how important this is but theres goota be a reason why its in windows.
Anyway I was wandering what programs do you lot use, what sources you get your styles from AND if applicable how you create them.
Thanks in advance, I searched google and the Kforums but couldnt find a solid answer.

WindowBlinds (http://www.stardock.com/products/windowblinds/). It's not free but it works like a charm and there are absolutely loads of skins available for it.

uxtheme.dll patches always screw up my Dell. I don't know why. So I'd recommend using StyleXP or WindowsBlinds

Yeah I just tried to use the uxtheme patcher and it really screwed my comp up. (and I'm an IT guy ...) Anyways I've always used WindowsBlinds before that and I must say the 5.0 version is quite nice. Especially when paired up with WindowFX 3.0. (neither of which use a lot of memory)

How are these programs at effecting the speed of your pc. I know in previous attempts to use such software I have had nothing but problems when it comes to slowing my computer down.
Are the new Window Blinds or Style XP any better?

don't use any programs! I used styleXP once but it screwed up the theme files, I had to replace all of them. I just patch with uxPatcher and then It's done! Plus StyleXP etc. has to run all of the time, and on my school laptop that just slows everything down
