Iv got BF 2142!

Yeah i'm a beta tester for Battlefield 2142! Just had a little go on it...

I think alot of people are gonna be dissapointed by the new one, it's pretty much a big mod of BF2 - just BF2 with a fancy new look. The engine seems pretty much identical, all the spawns, squads, menus are the same...they just look different.

It's also laggy, perhaps it's just becuase my card can't handle it (new one coming this week...yay!).

Pretty cool tho, gonna take a bit of time to get used to tho...

And you didn't know from the start that BF2142 was going to be the BF:V of BF2? By that I mean just like BF:V was just a mod of BF1942, BF2142 is a mod of BF2, they do that to make money for nothing. They couldn't make a new game in such a short time so they rushed together a mod, hey, people will buy it.

Neva played BF1942 or BF:V...

It's still a pretty cool game though, gonna have to wait for my new graphics card before I can really put it through it's paces, it's really laggy on this one...

Current one is a Radeon X550...

New one is GeForce 7950GX2.

uh... Battlefield 2 is a much better graphics engine then 1942... however it's probably a mod of Vietnam... Thing is the new version don't have any good mods for them, unlike 1942 which had everything possible from Iraq to Vietnam and back to the Civil war

Does the menu still have to load for 5 seconds or did they try and fix that?

Yeah the menu still takes time to load, it's pretty much the exact same as BF2 with a different look and a few different features...

The new vehicles are pretty awesome though, the new APCs have these sweet pods that you can launch yourself out of the APC and fly about.

There's also cool stuff like EMP grenades :P

It's all a bit laggy for me though, can't really play it properly :(

Active camo? Is that that thing thats supposed to make you invisible? I'v not used it yet, saw a dude running around using it, you can barely see them lol.

Yea that would be active camo... pretty sick stuff... People taking your dog tags im guessing then with all the lag. When i get the game i'm gonna see how long i can go without someone taking them.

edit2: Holy buggy lag land. That isn't your video card. That's the servers. They're currently incredibly laggy and buggy.

Another cool thing they added to 2142 is the ability to customise your kit - there's tones of different additions like different types of grenades, squad spawn thingy etc.. You just drag and drop the stuff into your kit (when you've unlocked it).

Temp, the active camo is a "recon" unlock. It's a handheld item, like a gun, so you hold it and it makes you invisible, and then you can swap to something else. I like being a sniper in BF2, but right now there's this weird 2142 bug where you zoom in, then back out, then back in, every time you hit the right mouse button. Also, the zoom jitter is way worse than in BF2, which kind of a pity because I thought snipers were already a little underpowered if you didn't manage to land a headshot.

There are now only 4 classes, recon, assault, engineer, and support. The sub classes come from customization and unlocks.

Yeah I totaly agree with all of that, the jitter really sucks when your a sniper, it's hard enough to get a good shot at someone in the first place...

Yeah, shooting someone was hard enough in BF2, with it jiggling like crazy it's really difficult. Shots do less damage than they used to as well.

Oh, a big addition is that everyone now has a visible heath bar, vehicles included, so if you shoot someone you can see how much damage you did and how much health they have left.

It's pretty cheap, and it gets you fast downloads for lots of random things.

Yeah it's really worth subscribing for File Planet anyway, their servers are sooo fast for everything, patches too. I downloaded 2142 in under an hour (it's 1.3gb aswel)

Plus you don't have to wait like a chump like you do on the public servers :P

Hey, the updated BF2142 client came out yesterday, and it's an absolute ton more stable and less laggy. I still crash to desktop at least once per 2 hours or so, but it's now a lot more fun. They also way toned down the crazy sniper jiggle that was going on. I've been going Engineer though, that's a blast.

Yeah, it's way better. I'm impressed. I'm also very pleased with how quickly one ranks up in 2142, much easier grind. :thumb:

I would buy it yes, it's still pretty awesome. The new features are quality.

but can anyone explain to me why my game of bf2 keeps crashing to desktop whenever i try to play a game? i've spent so much time trying to fix it up. i hope bf 2142 isn't like that...i feel like i wasted 45 bucks on the game...

so true... now my computer's all screwed up because of it and i had to erase it but now it's still pretty messed up..not to mention i erased a lot of useful programs to make room for it...sob i wish i hadn't...and now i get all these annoying popups!!

AA is okay.. really releastic and there's tons of moronic kids that play it 24/7... so sometime's it's hard to find a good server. Also, CoH beta is AWSOME!!! Freaking crazy with 3v3... we should do a kirupa game... PM me about it

Allies are the easist to play in the begining however in the end game if you don't have 8 billion tanks, your dead...


Axis are really hard to play at the begining as their troop squads are smaller and they have less numbers... However, their tanks kick *** especially if you go for the armour

A guy said to me the key is getting control of most of the battlefied, you gotta get troops out early and take the flags, and defend them.

I try and capture the points, but always get beaten back, I never have enough troops...never enough resorces to make them quick enough :fight:
