I was wondering if anyone knew a way to get rid of the little arrow that shows up on a shortcut, without downloading another customisation tool.

Download Tweak UI (http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/c/a/fca6767b-9ed9-45a6-b352-839afb2a2679/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe) windows power toy, in it one of the features is to disable the shortcut icon.

If you don't want to download TweakUI, launch regedit, go to HCR\lnkfile and delete the IsShortcut entry. I am basing this on memory, and I have no way of confirming it - so hope it works :)

Careful in the registry though its kinda sensitive sometimes. I edit the thing constantly to change around file support (open sometimes won't change even when i set it).
