That's pretty cool, I like the grungyness (if that's a word) of it.
Only suggestions would be to make the nav more pronounced, maybe a different font, and also knock the kb size down a bit by making it a jpg instead of png. If you're not using transparency in the image, no sense in making it heavier. ;)

That's a pretty cool looking graphic and it makes for a nice centerpiece to your layout. But it looks like you aren't giving yourself much room for content... just something to keep in mind. Also, I, too, think that you could probably use a more legible font for the nav.

cheers guys!!

yeh font is an issue cant seen to find one that works!! was gonna have a play with some pixel fonts!!

and as for the image size this is just an example its all going to be chopped and done in flash so no worries there!!

thanks for the feedback!

Its cool, but it reminds me of Steve Lawlers (http://www.djstevelawler.com) site a lot, same idea etc with all that CDJ action.

its what the dj wants!!

at the end of the day wat the client wants the client gets!

Absolutely, I agree with you the client is correct, but it's up to the designer to take responsibility and create something original and educate that client to the best of their ability, they pay you for the expertise.

I'm not even slightly suggesting that it's a copy or a rip, but it's very similar, and as this is the same area, DJ'ing, dance music etc, these sites may cross paths, your client may get stick, then your client goes, why did you make it so similar to Lawlers site and so on...

What you should do is go, look SL has a site thats very similar to this, are you sure you want to take this route?

Yep, but they look similar style, like cut up mutiple CDJ's, trendwhore style etc, surely you could try another approach with a CDJ, or simply inform the client of the similarities in the base graphic.

[edit]
It's just advice anyway man, take it or leave it, but it's better to keep the client informed, for whats it's worth I like it.

You could do a vector drawing of the CDJ, or make a drawing of the CDJ that is more 'cheeky' and cartoon like... if the site is in flash take advantage of Flash, animate parts of the CDJ, use it as navigation and so on...

That is quite a name lol
