Did you wipe your hard drive and reinstall everything after you got 'hacked'?

Sometimes Anti-Virus's affect speed as it takes up RAM that would normally be used for games. And sometimes it effectes it even more online because it checks some stuff when playing to make sure no-one is hacking your comp. Go into ctrl + alt +del = taskmanager, go into proceses (I cant spell) and find the yahoo thingy and post here how much memory it uses and how much CPU, best do it after minimising a game and then close the game and do, see if it goes higher when playing (meaning it doesnt trust the game and is scanning it all)

If you get a virus or you get "hacked", a smart computer user will wipe their drive and start clean. The fact that you would "never do that" shows that you're awfully lacking in computer experience.

That's enough system processes to choke a horse, that's ridiculous. I would strongly reccommend wiping and reinstalling. :-/

Heh. If you're just lazy, you don't get to complain about poor performance. Anyhow. I use Avast. It's a good one.

A way of putting off some is go, start > Run > 'msconfig' click ok, then go to startup and choose what you want to start up at beggining or not. You cant erase anything in system memory.

I did read the thread :P You got a virus (that doesn't mean you were hacked by the way). It was a bit of a side comment, but it was on topic!

I personally don't know of any for windows, maybe colinux, or that linux virtual machine, and use g4u(ghost 4 unix)

ICE mirror is a backup supporting incremental, never used it, its backup, but doesn't save in one file like acronis, or ghost.
http://www.ice-graphics.com/ICEMirror/IndexE.html

Theres http://www.back4win.com/ which has a free version i havn't used either.

I was looking into making one of these using 7zip on linux, but 7zip doesn't store permissions, so it only good for windows. If anyone wants to make the frontend for a windows one in flash, i wouldn't mind writing the code for handling the archives.
