You can do lotsa stuff without modeling too!
Check out <a href="http://www.hot.ee/syko/NS-1-1.jpg">this pic</a>! There's almost no modeling at all! I made it sheeshh.... years ago! ..I think! ...or maybe... almost.. a year ago...

lol! Open up the maps/backgrounds folder and search for a map name Mountains2.jpg and it's opacity map mount2_mask.jpg so you see the mountains are just a plain paper facing the camera with a custom sky but the water and the stuff in the front a done by hand!

lol man thats funny. i almost did something like that when i first got MAX. but now i am getting KINDA ok with it. i just gotta do it more
