Thanks, guy who made that. It's very 'cool', as you younglings would say. And will continue to do so until the Internet reaches a standstill right here on Kirupa. I think he's got the message.

But could you please tell me, is it possible to link it up to a graphic equalizer? Sorry, I'm hard to please.

Oh, by the way, I've stuck a Kirupa ad on my links page (it's rotational so you might need to refresh browser a few times):

http://www.crewsfx.com/links.php

Hope that's 'cool'.

Thanks!

I know Kirupa is all 2D, but to make one ad 2D next to another 3D button would be non-sensical. Strange opinion.

Of all the possible logos and icons, making a cross out of legos seems to me a very odd choice. I'm curious about your thinking behind it.

Timmytots

I'm artistic, and its an artistic kind of logo - juxtaposition between content and context. See?

Everything I and my company strive to do is 'good'. I'm trying to create installations and games that are beneficial to us and our world. The gamey coloured logo symbolises this - saviour of the virtual and physical world. It's powerful I feel and quite contensious. I shall be putting up a section about the logo soon. It also symbolises a coming together of the 6 major world religions.

Broken in Firefox. Can you show me an image?

My initial reason for this post was so that i could ask mp3 man about equalizer. I figure he wouldn't pick it out from all the compliments. So, no repost imo.

I'm interested to see if any of you are interested in either displaying or creating Art Games. Using games as an artistic medium is something i wish to explore and i'm keen to start getting other people's input and displaying them on my site.

I will put a link to your site on each Art game I display.

i see what your saying but not all your clients are christian, some may believe in other religions, so you shouldnt bring religion into webdesign, it just doesnt mix, you may believe in that religion and thats good for you but it might not be good in the client's point if view. what im trying to say is just dont use religion in your companies portofolio to make your self look good

i think that taking the crucifix as your company or personal logo is a bit egotisical... even if you are using it to portray an over all"goodness" within your comapny. you're definately going to pigeonhole yourself with an icon like that leading your ship.

secondly, how can you possibly TRADEMARK the cross? wtf?!?!?!

i'm agnostic and i know that you're going to hell for that! :thumb:

I think that may be the most self-righteous and egotistical thing I've heard all year. You consciously chose to make your logo the crucifix, because you think you're just that good, and you're out to be the 'saviour of the virtual and physical world'? Good god man, get the heck over yourself. You're not that great. I can't believe you have the nerve to compare yourself to Jesus. I'm not even Christian and I'm offended. :td:

You obviously are aware that you were going to offend people when you chose a URL like "crewSFX" and chose a crucifix for your logo. Your entire timothy-clark.com page is dripping with ego (Anyone who thinks that they're excellent at Art, Design, Business, Sports, Acting, Comedy, Dance, Theory, and then thinks they look good enough to be a model of their own "clothing style" is quite delusional and afflicted with something serious and should seek help) but this takes the cake. I'm not impressed. :|

I think you should scrap this, rename it, and get your head examined. Your mother told you how special you were one too many times, buddy.

Well kids, you've all got some nice little opinions up there in your little heads. I'm really taking stock, jotting 'em down and deliberating over my calculated delivery of a business that seeks to continue and expand the very Christian ideology you all have assumed it counteracts, by counteracting the very industry it resides in. I'm not about financial success believe me, and you'll learn that I have a far more philosophical stance on religion that maintains the FACTS: they are all intrinsically the same, and have simply originated from different places.

Right now, you're all feeding my desires. Thank you.

I can 100% guarantee that you're ugly. They're self-taken snaps with a cheap camera and yet I still look like an Armani model.

The design section will in all likelihood break off from this site. Everything I create becomes a number of things. I have so many interests.

The religious theme is a powerful, evocative one. One that encapsulates my intentions. All will be explained shortly in my faq section.

Until then, see if you can resist the temptation to insult me. You just can't help yourselves. Don't worry though, I'm in the process of creating Insult Punchbags into which you can all vent your frustrations into; frustrations born of feelings of worthlessness and lack of talent.

Of course, my personal punchbag, "you're the best!", will receive the most damage.

I couldnt help but chime in here, It seems as if the creator of this cross logo was trained in the way of Contemporary design, atleast thats what i gathered from this joke of a website. Something that was pounded into our heads in our foundation courses at my school was never EVER use a religious symbol for a logo unless youre dealing with a church or something that focuses DIRECTLY to religion. I would hope most art schools taught this in their curriculum. I know it can be hard to do but Ive had to do it MANY times in my professional life, go back to the drawing board and stop trying to be controversial.

"I can 100% guarantee that you're ugly. They're self-taken snaps with a cheap camera and yet I still look like an Armani model."

I have no doubt that I'm ugly, but then I never professed to be anything else. You however are no model. Considering my original career was based around developing future models I think I have a valid opinion here. You have only one facial expression, your hair needs cutting, only girls pout...I could go on but...

Big thumbs down from me.

You're in the wrong forum. If you want a question answered, post it in either Flash 8 or Actionscript.

There isn't any way to check sound levels with Flash 8 (although there are some expensive 3rd party applications), but you can do it with AS3 and the next version Flash, which is currently in development, or so I hear. REEF recently made a post about it. Anyhow, short story long, it can't be done at the moment. Anything that looks like an equalizer right now is probably just randomly animated.

The 'next' button on the MP3 player works fine on the computer I'm currently using. OS X 10.3.9, Firefox 1.5.

On another note, do you have the rights to use all those songs? It's a commercial page, so you need to license them if you want to use them.

Timmytots
August 23rd, 2006, 09:29 PM
No I don't. This Messiah is a bit naughty. Is licensing free?

Strange how my next aint workin. I'm using Safari. All other buttons work.

Well now... I haven't been involved in this conversation thus far, but after reading through this long post i feel compelled to put my two cents in.

Tim,

It does not take 43 posts to get an answer...for a normal, down to earth individual. You put your own post on a side track by your hilariously cocky responses to every opinion that was given. There are other posts in this forum that give the answer to your question.

And a comment on your cocky attitude: Not everything "Tim" does is amazing, or even good. Most of the work i found on any of your websites is average at best. Some of it is attractive and some more of it is just down right crude.

Everyone here is learning. Thats the main reason any of us are here...to help each other out. Drop the "better than thou" attitude and you will most definately get a better response from this community.

Just ask your dad, Tim. I reckon God pwns Flash. ;)

Licensing's not free, and you could get in quite a spot of bother if you're caught using music you shouldn't be using on a commercial site without permission. It's an infringement of copyright law and while I personally don't mind and the chances of getting caught are slight, it's not very professional looking on a site you're using for a business. If you're so multi-talented, write your own music. :)

No. Does that make it a business, though? I'm not registered, nor is the logo. It means their website is by a phony business. But its a phony business that is no less serious than a proper one.

If you wanted to properly parody a business site, you wouldn't use unlicensed music. It's stupid.

Also, I think you'll find, if you really look very closely and pay attention, that your 'parody' is distinctly lacking in the humour department. Perhaps your enormous brain is better able to derive amusement from narcissistic, pompous attitudes and a ridiculously pretentious writing style, but I don't find it in the least bit funny. In fact, I find a great deal of it pretty offensive. Maybe you neeed to dumb it down for the masses. :|

This has gone on long enough.

Timmytots, If you want to ask questions about how to accomplish something please do so in the proper forum. This is a critique forum, not a Flash forum. Questions should be posted in one of those forum. You are welcome to repost your question there.

To some of the rest of you, you should be ashamed for instigating Timmytots. I don't care how arogant he is, and I don't care if he choses to use unorthodox web design methods. You're comments are insults, not critiques. Though this thread is in the wrong place, Timmytots has a thread in this forum that is obviously a critique thread. You should all be smart enough to keep your comments there.

Edit: Remember people a person is allowed to be arogant. If he gets no answer because of that arogance than that's one thing, but I will not tolerate insistant insults and instigations to higher and higher levels of agrivation upon any member. If he is deserving of a ban, then you report it to a Mod and we ban him. If he isn't, then he is deserving of the care and compassion that we reserve for EVERY MEMBER OF THIS FORUM. You all need to reread my post sickied in the random forum "All Kirupians please read."

I'm closing this thread. If you wish Timmytots I will delete this thread and we can start again.
