I have a .FLA file that opens fine on my PC in Flash 8, nothing special, 400 lines of ActionScript, one 11x11 square in the library, nothing on the stage, no text objects.

When I try to open this file on my Mac (12" PowerBook, which has never had an issue in Flash), it hangs the Flash 8 IDE. I can open othe files fine, this is the only one. I loads up, displays the file res at the bottom, it is correct. It appears as if it is trying to load the timeline when it hangs, it displays two timeline scrollbars when it hangs.

What i have tried:

-tried a new user, same issue, it is a system wide issue.
-verified HD, no errors
-repaired permission, fixed a couple unrelated permissions.
-tried saving it as a different file name on the PC then re-transferring over FTP, same issue

Still the same issue. If anybody has any other ideas to try, let me know. I am VERY comfortable with troubleshooting Apples;), but i am at my wits end. Senocular?:)

The file must be in some manner corrupt. I've had this happen to me before. Do you have backups of the AS? It doesn't sound like the 11x11 square is going to be too horribly difficult to recreate. I'd suggest pasting that all into another file and resaving. If you can't get it to open, do you have a .SWF? You could always decompile that. Good luck. :(
