According to this interview with Kaz Hirai PS3 haven't even begun to be manufactured, it seems they're reviewing the production lines.

I think the PS3 will have more defects/shortages than the X360, I mean cmon they got what 2 months to launch and they still havent started to produce them :h:

Seems like them batterry recalls on them Dells busted Sony even more :-/

Edit: What a moron I forgot to post the link anyways here it is

Not sure what interview you're referring to - but I remember hearing they were in production??

I think they will launch this November but will have even more shortages than MS did; that is if the demand is there. ;)

on slashdot someone mentioned something like JIT (Just in Time) production where some large companies wait to the last minute to start production on products to save on inventory costs. Toyota has done this and its possible that sony is as well. However, from my perspective, I think I find it hard to believe that the PS3 will be able to work this way a) given the 360's inability to keep up with demands at launch, and b) how recent reports seem to indicate that the number of defects in cell processors during production are out the pooper.

I very much doubt it will be released in Novemeber. There has been alot of releases that have been delayed this year

Well they probably could release it on November but I think they will have mass shortages and how many of those will be defects? X360 had its launch problems but I think the PS3 will have more.

It's like they're against the clock and they havent even got their production lines working and they have 2 1/2 months to make the 6 million consoles they have proposed. They have to make 68,182 consoles a day if they were starting production as of today, seems to me they're gonna have a lot less than 6 million at launch.

MS didn't get to ship the 3 million consoles they had estimated in the first 90 days you really think Sony could pull 6 million in 75 days?

Now who's really living in the matrix?

I wouldn't be surprised if there was 5 or less PS3 in your local videogame store, sellers on Ebay are gonna make a killing.

Really? Could you point out which are those "positive" things inquiring minds want to know

Because according to this here their stock dipped 3.2 as of today and analyst predict only half of the PS3 they promised will actually be delivered for launch, seems like something really positive but not for Sony

The drop in share value was a result of the battery recall

Anogar

Or perhaps more accurately the battery recall(s) now that Apple has joined in the fun. :crying:

Just to say it again, certain Lenovo and Vaio products have the exact same batteries, and none of them have exploded. There are more factors than just the battery here. Vaio products use a different recharging system that has no reported failures in the same manner as Dell and Apple.

If Intel processors started exploding, it would be easy to jump on Intel - but you'd also need to have a good look at the people who manufactured the motherboard and the HSF.

As usual my opinions are nothing but my own opinions and do not necessarily reflect those of my employer.

i agree with anogar and sen... the share value drop is due to this battery issues and only... it is funny that Sony shares drop after this incident but Apple's rise by 50 cents... after all Gateway uses the same batteries and they claim their systems are not at risk for the same malfunctions... they say it's a combination of factors that led to the fault which they don't have...

i guess everyone loves to hate sony nowadays...

^ so what ??? does that mean they have lied ??? of course no... they have the right to change any specs before the release...

now if you purchased ps3 and found out it's not what it says in the ads and the box then it's a lie...

If lie is too strong a word, try exaggerated.
