Personal logo up for critique

Hi guys,

What do you think of this logo, don't pay to much attention to the typography cause i haven't worked on that yet. But i'm looking for critique on the "sign". The thought behind it was a different kind of arrow pointing west due to my last name "Westgaard". What do you think about using this alone without the typography to support it?

i like its simplicity but it could use something, just not sure yet...and id say have the westgaard in there

still, i like the design of the logo

The logo part I saw in Logo Lounge 2.
The type part is awful. "Westg" is so tight, while "aard" is wide.
The legend "design" make the whole composition drop apart. If you make a centered composition, do it for all elements.

Total: awful logotype.

To be honest if you had not explained what it signified i wouldnt have known...but nice and simple i guess.

Ive seen similar, what does your company do? try and incorporate that into your design. And also most logos dont have gradients.

the compass thing about it is completely non-understandable, even with the westgaard. I barely understood it with the explanation. If you want people do get the link between west and westgaard, you probably have to beat it into them with a compass needle fixed due west.

Maybe you could quote two gps coordinates, heading west - that way it'd be vector!

seen the logo before, not sure where and all my logo books are packed but i'm absolutely positive i've seen it, or something extremely similar.

I'm almost positive that something strikingly similar to that is on the cover of the Logolounge book. I'll look when I get home. :shifty:

is it me or does ne1 else always think of that stunt that waseem guy pulled everytime you see someone asking for help with logos???

also yea, now that i keep looking at it i no ive seen one very similar like simp said...make something special about your logo so its easily recognized

Sorry Session ... but I think you might want to go back to the drawing board ... it's not totally like it, but I'd rather see something totally different ... i've seen other logo ideas from you and know you could come up with something else! :thumb:

Hmmm... back to the drawing board again i guess. Never seen this logo lounge thing some of you mention, but if you find i would like to see it. And Tommy_S, like i said in my first post, i hadn't put much into the typography yet ;)

The one on the cover of logolounge is a bit different, that wasn't where I remember it from. However, it's still a bit of a played out concept. Good luck going back to the drawing board. :thumb2:

This is the one on the cover that is a little similar. (Not that similar though, if this was it, it wouldn't be worth worrying about.) On a side note, this is an awesome book, it's a lot of fun to flip through.

I agree with hybrid101 , I felt similarity to sony walkman logo..

It reminded me of the 37signals logo… which is also similar to the walkman logo. I think there's something else, too.

That cilys one is near identical, but then again loads of those logos are similar. You should really change it if youre going to get past the phase of small time business.
