Converting to TTFs, or Extracting TTFs

Several imaging apps need plain, simple ttf files to do any sort of processing (gd, pil). Is there any way to convert “.dfont” files into ttfs?

Alternatively, is there a way to get the regular format of a “font suitcase” as a ttf?

Conversion to open-type fonts will work, too… :)

Some google reasearch revealed the names of two programs, Fondu and Fink, both seemingly for Linux, although I don't have more details.
