OK, so I did a fresh install of 3ds Max 8 and the first thing I notice is that the cursor/handle is not thick and tri-colored but just thin and red. I don't get it, even when I open up v7 it has the snapping cursor/handle. Here's a screenpic:

See that? It's just a thin red cursor. So when I go to move or alter anything it doesn't snap to the axis but rather is just free. I'm seeking help on this and how to get it back to normal. Thx in advance.

I use Maya and Lightwave, so I don't know, but you might post at CGtalk.com too, it's a very active community.

Heh, new users have to wait 24 hours for a post to be validated by a mod. So if anyone here can offer any suggestions that'd be great.

Ah, gotcha. I've been posting there for a few years, they didn't do that in the past.

Assuming you already have the move tool selected press x.

you need to turn on gizmo through customization to see that tri colored curser for move... and also you need to enable 2d/3d snapping for that... hope this helps...

you get customization option from window or somewhere I forgot the menu...

Or just press x.

He said snapping but I think he meant locking the xyz drag direction with the gizmo handles. Alternatively you can also press F5, F6 ,or F7 with or without the gizmo on to lock directions or right click the transform selections and use the transform dials instead.
