Hey all,
I spotted this diagonal line effect on some images, mostly footers on this site. Like faint lines? Sorry for annoying anyone that I'm using as an example but...Example:

or
http://darkmotion.com/footer/footermini.gif

(Cheers guys)

I've been searching and fiddling about with photoshop and illustrator, but i'm not very good by anyones standards, I'd just like to know how to do this one thing.
Thank you.

Search tutorials for "Scan Lines"

Those are just modified versions of that basic concept. It's just a pattern, really easy to do.

After the scan line, just change the opacity.

Some advice: never, ever do it. It's the most annoying, over-used, ugly effect ever. (No offense to the people who have it. :P)

It's really annoying…

I used to be obsessed with scan lines, I still quite like them but I don't put them ontop of everything anymore :P

Easy to make tho, tons of tutorials out there...

Thanks everyone.
Its one of those things I'd never have known the name of to even start searching productively.

I think theyre only acceptable on footers or pixel art, I hate them in the background of sites.
