Nothing new, but I realized this had probably never been posted in Kool Sites, and it's definitely one of the most beautiful CSS sites around.

This time, nobody can argue about the code, either, because it's beautiful (and open-source :P, just go to the Trac install).

See nokrev and yes this is a cool site. Unlike that last post. I love the colors in this one.

it's alright. i mean it's a pretty clean design. but i don't know if it's a kool site (or even a cool site).

Jeff Wheeler

Ah man… I was sure nobody would question the awesomeness (wow, that's actually a word!) of this site. :P

Your like the story of the "Boy who cried wolf". Except in this case its the "Boy who cried Kool Site". I dont think I will bother looking at your kool site posts anymore  This site = cheese pizza.

Jeff Wheeler

:P

Seriously… I can understand the opinions in the other threads, but this site is pure coolness. What do you dislike about it?!

DDD
August 4th, 2006, 12:53 PM
I mean: the correct question for me is: What is to like? I just see a 2 column fluid layout. Nothing moving there. Colors are ok I guess. But this is your style tho, but for me it is over-board simple. I like simplicity but this is totally devoid of art IMO. But it does serve its purpose. But this sub-forum isnt call "Purposeful Sites". Dunno, but like they say "What ever finds your lost remote"..

Jeff Wheeler
August 4th, 2006, 12:54 PM
It's three columns? :h:

DDD
August 4th, 2006, 12:55 PM
interior pages are 2 :z:

Jeff Wheeler
August 4th, 2006, 12:56 PM
But homepage is prettiest, and has three columns. :P

As for the colors… I really, really like them. Same goes to the typography, especially in the headers and code samples.

^ I guess, Nokrev is a programmer. He even says "I won't touch Flash! Oof!" :P

But this is the Designers area, and we need some really cool, fresh and original sites posted here

DDD
August 4th, 2006, 12:58 PM
the typo = blah, typo actually is better on the interior pages.

I can respect a simple site too, but this is just crazy simple. Just colored boxes for pete's sake. No design went into this at all, besides matching up the corners of the boxes.

Jeff Wheeler

Surely we can at least agree the logo is pretty? :D

Hmmm...

Its anybody's guess why nokrev's threads run for so many pages [:P]

I'm sure it's impressive, but it's really rather boring to anyone who isn't messing their shorts over the beauty of the code.

Jeff Wheeler
August 4th, 2006, 01:16 PM
You can browse the source code for the site in the Trac install (“Code” in the nav).

Jeff wanted me to help him argue that Django's site kicks arse.

J are you noKrevs arch nemesis? You do realize by posting you are helping to keep it fresh...

(And so can I. ;))

Jeff Wheeler
August 4th, 2006, 01:45 PM
But you can't properly use the [whisper] tag. :P

Esherido
August 4th, 2006, 02:33 PM
But I forgot the [whisper] tag and didn't feel like looking it up. And changing the color to a light gray is so much easier than printing [whisper]

Jeff Wheeler
August 4th, 2006, 02:40 PM
Except that it doesn't change the size, also. :P

Esherido
August 4th, 2006, 02:50 PM
So? Big deal, it doesn't really mean anything?
I can do it any size I want.

What do you mean by :Blank Stare:, it doesn't make sense?

Jeff Wheeler

I mean you posted something that could not be replied to, except by a lack of reply, which is exactly how I replied. ;P

Ok, ok. You started it though, by pointing out I was too lazy to type the [whisper].

Jeff Wheeler
August 4th, 2006, 03:11 PM
Yeah, ok, I'll take the blame, if you agree djangoproject is a beautiful site. :-/

Esherido
August 4th, 2006, 03:12 PM
Not bad in my opinion. Though it does look a lot like Django's own site.

Esherido

Drink milk with green food coloring in it, that's what I did when I was 5 years old and it worked like a charm. DDD, nokrev and I do have a room, it's called the Saturday Night Fights.

no offense ... but site is not cool at all

Esherido
July 11th, 2007, 09:36 AM
^ Now that I've fallen in love with Django, the site looks uber awesome and uber cool. It's you that "is not cool at all". :chinaman:

Cyrus_DV

I am siding with DDD on this one.
This is clever code but not a kool design site.
It is fast and it has its place as it is all business but there is no clever design here what so ever.

Esherido
July 11th, 2007, 03:14 PM
* Sigh * Django is for developers not designers. If you want to see clever designs go to some dumb lame XHTML, ZOMGWTFBBQ Web 2.0 showcase web site. "Kool" doesn't just apply to design. Why does it seem all the n00b Flash'ers and designers here have no respect for the powerful software that makes their designs work?

Jeff Wheeler
July 11th, 2007, 06:02 PM
I think it's hot, both by design and code.

Esherido

so i sat and stared at this thing for a while thinking it was pretty manky looking... then pulled in my browser window. 16:10 throws that **** off pretty bad, yo. Looks lovely in 4:3-ish, though.
