I've never heard Smeg used as a short for Smegma.

But people do cross cultural blunders all the time, like the chevy Nova which means No Go in spanish.

It's hard to check every language and it's slang terms before you name something. So you have to forgive the brits for naming a fridge and stove after sweaty ballsacks.
