This is WIP, + I need to know what to add to it. The image quality is pretty poor, but you get the idea. Also, the image in the bottom right is going to be ramdomly chosen from a gallery. This will be a html site when it's finished, and if they choose the design. Im doing this while on work experience, btw. Comments are apreciated.

I think it's cute. :thumb: It turned out well. The whole bulleted right justified text thing is a little awkward, but it works out okay - and it's so much better than the vast majority of education pages that it's just awesome. If it's an 'either / or' sort of thing, I like "B" better.

B is actually what the other pages are meant to look like, (ie: about us) but if its alot better than the other design, I could modify the first one.

I think they're both good, and I assumed that that B was what the other pages would look like, but then I wasn't sure. I like the front page, but perhaps you could make the text fields a little wider? That might help.

@Ragona: I'll check it out.

@Sparky, red + grey are their school colours, and thats what they wanted.

Maybe go for a deeper more rich red as opposed to that stop sign red you have there...

Also, all the capital text in the menu is distracting and is amateur looking.

Will check it out, but they specified "Bright colours".

I'll definatly look into the menu.

Thanks FTL

Well, red in itself is a bright colour, most shades of red will always be 'bright' so just give her a shot, i'm never a fan of websafe colours. :thumb:

I like that way more, its not the school colours but its bright, fun and perfect for the type of site it is. Capitalize the first letter in each menu item. As well is there a school crest or logo you can put at the top next to the text? Furthermore, maybe you can find a fun image of kids playing or something to put in the background of the white banner at the top of the page where the logo is. Or maybe even a picture of the school itself.

I don't like the aqua turquoise bright blue content box

and

I don't like how the content chunks besides news dont have headings

Ok, so I fixed some of the colors. I used base colors here so you can lighten/darken them according to your likings. If your school has the exact hex code for their colors i'd change the colors in the layout accordingly. As for positioning you naturally want the easiest color on the eyes to be the main content. Red is a bit distracting, and blue is as well however light grey and even the green would be fine. I'd also suggest that you lower the radius on the boxes and perhaps space them together more. It looks like you might have them somewhere between 5-8 px. I'd go for 2-3px. This will look alot better when the radius is lowered (do that about 10px.)

As for the boxes themselves you should make the main content box a bit wider (if not extending the entire length and move the blue box under the green box and lower their heights. This can be fixed rather quickly when your coding.

Now, these colors might not work depending on your school colors. If the grey is actually a lot darker you are not going to want it to be the main content box. You could possibly make the main content box white and fill the background with the grey.

You're going to have to use the school colors. Clients don't usually budge on things like that, and they really shouldn't. You wouldn't tell a large corporate client that the colors they've spent millions of dollars branding weren't going to work, so you went with this little thing you whipped up...

@JC: Ewwwwwwwwww black text on that green??? Ewwwwwwwww!!!!!
-- and that grey content box looks out of place... grey does not factor in well there.

@anogar: I think this might be one of those "Exceptions" that we keep hearing about... The colours are bright and happy just like lego pieces, personnally I think that because it suits the content more you should try and go for the colourful layout.

I like it, I really like the drop shodow :)

I don't like the navigation, I think you should make a set of icons!! Also the placement of the content, I am not feeling the image on the botton, other then that it's pritty good!!:D

Thanks, I really apreciate your help, but I think this is one of those sites where you break a few rules. The grey isn't going to work that well, and how would a red logo work on a red background? If the site you make looks + works better, screw the theories.

I think you need just a little more space between the word "primary" and "school". it seems a little cluttered to me.

Header could be more cheerful... I really liked the read theme from first one but it needed some more colors... second one is good too but I dont like green nav and blue box... red is primary for children so have it on menu and some main parts with other bright colors..

I've actually scrapped both of these layouts, and did one that was alot better. Unfortionatly, Its not on my computer, but the one at work experience. Thanks for all the comments, though.
