1. Samsung VM8000 Series -
The memory stick(s) are located under the keyboard. To remove the keyboard get a flat headed screwdriver and under the key "Fn" There should be a clip unlock this clip by forcing upwords then another clip on the right of the space bar and the third clip under the arrow keys down and right.

Remove the ribbon that connects the keyboard to the Motherboard. Romove the metal plate with a philips screwdriver. carefully add memory to the empty slot available. Or remove carefully and store in an Anti-static bag in a dry and cool place.

Screw the metal plate back on carefully attach the ribbon from the keyboard to the Motherboard. Then attach the keyboard with the two black clips at the top resting on the bar and push until all 3 clips click. Press down on the "Fn" key to make sure the clip is correctly inserted do this with the two other keys.

Turn the laptop on and go into the BiOS to check the memory and run notepad when booted up to check the keyboard works correctly#

2. HP Pavillion dv8000 -

Turn the power off. If in hibernation push the power button until power on then shut down computer. Remove all connected USB/Serial/Firewire/PC Cards and put them in a safe place. Remove the power cables and put them a distance from the work area.

Turn the laptop upside down, remove the battery from the laptop. Undo the screws that hold the memory compartment. Lift and remove the memory compartment away from laptop. Remove the clips on either side of the memory compartment. The memory compartment tilts upwards. Hold the edge of the memory compartment and carefully pull the memory away from the memory slot.

Put the Memory into and Anti-static bag, Put in a dry and cool place

To instert Memory...
a. Align the notched edge of the memory with the tab on the memory slot
b. With the memory at a 45-degree angle from the surface of the memory compartment, press the memory into the memory slot until it is seated
c. Press the memory compartment down until the clips snap into place.

Align the tabs on the memory compartment cover screws, Then replace the battery connect the external devices which you removed and reattach the power cable, Turn on the laptop and go into BiOS to check the amount of memory is correct.
3. Dell E1705 -

Turn the power off, Remove all connected devices. Close the lid and open the bottom. Slide the cover open/off. Insert the memory or remove the memory.

If removing memory please put the memory into Anti-Static bags or containers.

Slide the cover back on, Open the lid and turn power on check the BiOS.
4. Apple Macbook -

Turn the all power off, Remove all connected external devices. Remove the battery and place it a distance from the work area. on the back of the laptop unscrew the L shaped plate and remove from battery compartment to display the memory compartment.


Carefully slide the plasic lever to the opposite side until the previous memory stick comes out. Remove the memory. *Hold the lever on the opposite side of the original position and insert the memory. Move the lever back to original position until the memory is secure and in correctly.

*Repeat to insert more memory
If you remove memory keep in a dry cool area sealed in an anti-staic bag or container.

To add or replace a memory module:

1.Shut down the computer. (If you are not sure whether the computer is off or in hibernation, turn the computer on by pressing the power button. Then shut down the computer through the operating system.)
2.Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3.Disconnect the power cord.
4.Turn the computer upside down.
5.Remove the battery pack from the computer.
6.Loosen the memory module compartment cover screws 1.
7.Lift the memory module compartment cover 2 away from the computer.
8.To remove a memory module:
a.Pull away the retention clips 1 on each side of the memory module.
The memory module tilts up.
b.Grasp the edge of the memory module 2 and gently pull the module out of the memory slot.
To protect a memory module after removal, place it in an electrostatic-safe container.
9.To insert a memory module:
a.Align the notched edge 1 of the memory module with the tab on the memory module slot.
b.With the memory module at a 45-degree angle from the surface of the memory module compartment, press the module 2 into the memory module slot until it is seated.
c.Press the memory module down until the retention clips snap into place.
10.Align the tabs on the memory module compartment cover with the notches on the computer.
11.Close the cover 1.
12.Tighten the memory module compartment cover screws 2.
13.Replace the battery pack.
14.Reconnect external power and external devices.
15.Turn on the computer.

1. Power off completely remove external power.
2. Close lid and flip bottom up.
3. Slide off cover.
4. Theres the memory slots you know what to do.

Wow dell makes it easy.

Power off properly. Unplug from power outlet and remove any extra components connected to laptop.
Remove battery.
(Perspective: Looking at back of laptop) Unscrew L shaped metal piece and remove from battery compartment to reveal memory compartment.
Gently slide the plastic lever to the opposite side till previous memory stick comes out.
Remove old memory. Hold lever on opposite side of original position and insert memory. Move lever back to original position till memory is secured in.
Repeat steps 4-5 for the other memory stick if required.

If people need help on removing memory and their laptop is listed then that can follow that instead of doing hourless searching all i wanted to do is help :)

I guess, but personally I'd think if anyone even thinks of attempting to install RAM themselves, they'd have at least the slightest idea how to.

I like to unscrew everything, rip it apart, do my deeds, put it back together. If there's extra pieces left, I've just made it more efficient.

lol nice MaxtrOsity ripping it apart does always do the job... I just simply go to HPs site and do a quick search for mine, but it is nice to know that the forums are a good tool in case you completely forgot what Brand-Model Number your laptop is :lol:

Agreed... Removing RAM from a laptop is ridiculously easy.

How to add more RAM to any computer:

Preparations:

1. Turn it off.
2. Unplug it so you don't fry.

Process:

1. Open the thing.
2. Yank the bad stuff out.
3. Shove the good stuff in.
4. Close the thing.
