Ok I am going to format my laptop and i am wondering what OS i shall use? Vista i am unsure of as its a very low spec computer for a Samsung.
Specs I have at the moment:
Windows 2000 SP 4,
x86 Family 6 Model 8 Stepping,
AT/AT Compatible,
122,352 KB RAM, (Upgradeable)
SiS 7018 Audio Driver,

With those specs, stay with Windows 2000. Try Ubuntu on that machine, it's a fun OS to mess around with.

Maxtr0sity I have already tryed Ubuntu and I didn't really like it on my laptop and if I do choose Ubuntu I cant run any EXE files like windows... Although I have tried Windows XP SP 2 on my laptop and that ran pretty smoothly...
Thanks anyway

I have windows 98 on my laptop, which has insanely bad specs just because its lighter than all the other OS's and is quicker to run and I only use it to type up or store things.

Windows 2000 is basically a stripped version of XP. Your not loosing much and gaining some speed.

I want to say XP, but since you've got 2000 now, I'm going to have to say stick with that.

Slackware! If you really want Windows, Win2k.

There are a lot of people that use Win2k on their faster computers because it runs smoother and isn't bloated with "unneeded functionality".
Win2k is a very nice operating system and your not missing much from XP.

The whole point of Ubuntu is to get away from the EXE's. It takes some balls and curiousity to mess with Ubuntu, but I like it so far.

Ubuntu wasn't what i was hoping for... Ahwell I suppose I could make a minor adjustment.
Edit: If i had the XP installed would it use more battery power than other windows apart from Ubuntu

I would only move to linux once there is a Flash Authoring environment available for it.
I would also go for Win2K.

I've never heard of anyone getting more/less battery from switching OS. The principle of battery saving is power usage.
A program called Notebook Hardware Control is great at balancing power usage. I have mine set at Dynamic Switching w/ HD spin down enabled. That means when I'm just reading a really long webpage, the processor clocks down (less heat, less power used), also the harddrive turns off (less heat, less power used). So IMO, if you're looking for the best power management, XP is a good bet. On the flipside, if the program can do Win2k, I say stick with Win2k.
