Now I'm no where near versed w/ car decks... does anyone have a suggestion for a good MP3 compatible CD Deck for mah car... preferably no more than $200 I don't need anything ridiculous.

Or you could get THIS: http://www.mobilemag.com/content/100/354/C6218/
Sorry, I don't know anything about car decks either, though I don't see why anything from a respectable brand would be bad.

never had a pioneer go bad bro. most last 2 years...my pioneer lasted 4 - it's a good brand and most often they have some advanced eq settings that most don't check it out and see.

well you can get an fm transmitter for about $10 on eBay. Just get one of those and hook it up to your mp3 player. you're good to go

1. FM transmitters have horrible sound quality. Even tape adapters have better quality.
2. Simp's looking for MP3 CD compatibility.

I looked at CicruitCity and there's another one they have which is pretty much the same but a little more expensive... you know what the difference is?

if it's that one - it has a nicer display it looks like - also appears to have some low pass filters built in
good prices on these - looks like they are having a nice sale

That's a pretty nice deck.
JVC also has a pretty cheap and nice front USB jack deck and it's iPod ready... pretty reliable as far as I know.
If you JUST want something with mp3 CD capability, you can get much cheaper decks, and they will last. However, using flash memory right on the deck is HOT, and it's not that expensive either. Those flash USB sticks are cheap as well.

Do those decks with the USB detect the iPod Shuffle, that is the only way I want to go?

Prolly... I'm sure that each has a unique way that you'll have to force it to locate your mp3 player.

Nope... the shuffle is an enigma.
It WILL work if u can put files on it thru windows explorer... but I believe the proprietary format iTunes uses with the shuffle cannot be recognized.
However, this MIGHT work with iPod ready decks... it says it wont work with some audio accesories, so I don't know... it'd be nice if someone could vouch for it.

Most decks have a line-in or aux input, where you can connect your line-out from the shuffle too. However, you'll have to control the tracks thru the ipod rather than the deck itself, and you'll have to worry about batteries (Dont try to use this method with a car charger or you may run into ground loop problems... which will give you distortion in the audio. You can get a ground loop isolator, but make sure u know what you're doing).

^ what he said.
the pioneers typically have something called a IP bus cable that plugs where your CD changer dos, get rca to 1/8 stereo cable, connect the two, then plug the 1/8 jack into your mp3 player, set the source to aux and you're good to go.
the deck i showed you simp plays mp3 CDs - that's what you were after right?

The mini jack is really all I need but yeah for the shuffle I could just throw all the songs onto it by dragging and the player should spot it that would be neat.
I use this with my 512mb Ipod Shuffle and it's great. It willl even scroll the MP3 tag information on the display. I like to fill it with mp3's directly through Windows and bypass Itunes. You get the best results naming folders 01, 02, etc. (up to 12) Button control interface is a little confusing at first but easy to learn. Be aware this deck won't work well with MP3 players over 4 GB capacity (the manual says so.)
Here is proof for the Shuffle from the reviews

Why not something like the following?

Just thinking about saving some money. Why pay for features you wont use? Brand names tend to not make a difference at the lowest product model lines. It's only once you get into the mid to higher end that you really see a difference.
Of course, it's up to you. Looks of the deck are important to some too, so that could factor in as well.

Well it's either the 4800 or 5800, does the 4800 remote have a cord on it? or is it wireless? if that's the case I'm all for the 4800 I don't care about the organic display.
As for the features thing squire money isn't major issue but I want quality sound as I drive a lot and an 18hr drive in my near near future  But I do plan on usin the features, the only one goin unused ATM would be the iPod ;) which it won't be an unused feature in about a month or so

I would go with Sony Xplod seris(and not because my car is sponsored by them...lol). But I really like their car audio. Mine came with mp3 capabilities, mp3 player accessibility, satellite readio ready......Never had one go bad on me either. Very good bang for the buck.

Actually, I second that.. I have sony woofers, and deck. All you really need is a CD player with an audio out (aux)... Then buy yourself an iPod, and hook it up to the aux channel.
Sony makes great audio stuff....
And it feels good to not have to deal with CD's any longer :pleased:
