I have the feeling that I post here far too often!
This time I hope it's just showcase (though if you can criticise please do so) - my new logo (the one with the flag) and I've included the old one:

The type treatment is an improvement (if you kill the obnoxious glare). The Inspired IT Solutions looks awful, consider only letting it to go to the end of amict. And the flag is not only blurry, but pointless, I believe. Can you justify using the flag? It gives it a sports feel, which is not what you're after. I feel your symbol was much much stronger in the previous logo, not to say that i's necessarily that great, but it could have been worked with.
So overall it's an improvement, but don't call it done yet :)

OK - here's another attempt, thanks

While I'm not sold at all, I do think it's better than what you've shown before. Lose the weird bevel thing on the objects, it' looks weird. Also consider making your own type face.

OK - two more attempts, and I'm happy with the type face - I'm not up to creating my own!

i think the lightning logo is pretty common. but the fonts are good. just change the main logo itself

seems you have put some efforts in this.. and looks more sensible, but still something is missing, and I cant tell what..

Stronger, but not there. The color choice is odd, using all the primaries (and green) is not really appropriate for a business, at least in this sense, makes it feel very childlike. Pick two colors at the most that you like and use them exclusively in the logo. I like how you're experimenting with the kerning of the letters, that's helpful as well. Also clever placement of the box, how it interacts with the lower case a.
Though your solution is fairly unimaginative you're definitely going in the right direction now, just develop your concept. And by develop I don't mean complicate, I mean simplify.

hmm... simplify... I've changed the colours...
Do you prefer the blue/red or blue/yellow?
ollie-
July 17th, 2006, 08:20 AM
Neither, they are both horrific colour combinations :P Although the blue and white do look good together, I'm not sure about the "dirty" internal gradient, the darker areas wouldn't be black, they would be a darker version of the internal colour. The gradient is also in the wrong direction, it should be verticle rather than horizontal.
The antialiasing on the larger text should be increased, it's still rather "crisp", but other than that good job on the improvement, its still rather cliche, and I'm pretty sure that I've seen that slogan somewhere else before, but never-the-less a good improvement, I would like to see some more ideas from you. :)

reduce the width of the line in box and I like blue red more... but simplify the colors for red one (in the dark tones)

OK - I've experimented with the lines but I feel that thicker is slightly better - thanks for all the assistance. I was originally 'Inspired IT Solutions' but I wasn't sure whether it would fit with the box?
AndyM103

No - maybe I do prefer the thinner lines!

aaa dont use transparent colors... and I think thin outlines look better..

i think the main problem is that you don't have a clear idea in your head as to what you want the logo to convey. so far you have posted a half dozen different symbols in your logo and been rather wishy-washy over the content.
here is one main trick to designing logos:
DO NOT START ON THE COMPUTER!
sit down and brainstorm words and word associations that apply to your name and or service (a minimum of 30)
sketch a thumb of the 15 best words any way you want
take the top 10 sketches and develope them some more
the best 5 from there should then be refined into something black and white with not color to start with.
now pick the top two make a final comp and submit them to the showcase.
in all from start to finish it will probably take at least 10 hours if enough thought is put into it.
-also the logo should dictate the tagline, not the other way around. the tagline is a supporting element and not really part of the logo.
***the most important part of the process is the mental preparation rather so the physical output has meaning, you have to have a strong picture in your mind's eye***

OK - here goes, I've stuck with my original symbol because I felt that it went along with my ideas of freedom and inspiration and I've fiddled with the strap-line and text.

Two things.
1. I think the font choice is weak.
2. I think the fact that 'amict' is lower case, and then you have 'The Freedom To Be Inspired" makes it look 'off'.

the text overlapped like that looks really bad. the box doesn't really look like a box either. i think your strongest so far is what you had in post #3.

What font would you suggest and do you think that 'AMict' would work better?

Try something stronger, and with classier lines. That font looks a little amateurish, and I know you didn't make the font, so that isn't your fault. Try Trade Gothic or Helvetica Neue Condensed.

OK - I used 'Century Gothic' I didn't really want to pay...

Still seems a little poor. Professional fonts make logos look more... professional.

Nah, that's way worse. Seriously, this is the difference between using MS Paint and Photoshop. Nice fonts = nice designs.
