You forgot Cable internet lol. Mod will have to add that.

Dial Up to small of a number to be writen on screen in basic format.
DSL around 100kb/s to 3.5mb/s
Cable 2mb/s to n/a
T1 = 1.5mb/s
T3
Fiber Optic = up to 40gig/s.


No one really has true fiber optic. Most are branched off of fiberoptic nodes. And Fiber Optic is a ton per foot of tube which for the most part has to be strait.

fiber is like corporate internet... like those supernetworks.... So, yeah add CABLE!

Oh okay I didnt wanna say to add cable and then sound stupid after someone correcting me by saying "cable is fiber optics n00b."

I knew I wasnt wrong :P.

Cable != fiber. Fiber is like FIOS (a provider), it's an actual fiber optic line and not just a coaxial line coming from the same plug as your TV. Fiber is faster than cable, it'll be coming to a theater near you within a few years.

where I live the community was recently built (only about 3 years ago) so I have Fiber to my house

I believe the speeds depend on what kind of optic cables/dsl you have and the plan... I think Cox now has these different plan options up to like 12mg...

Yea its more like 6mb to i dont know how fast.

And DSL is around there.

the fastest i ever downloaded w/ DSL was ~800-1000 kbps. the fastest i ever downloaded on fiber optics (fios) was 3.7 mbps.

My dad's old office building (an incubator) was right across the street from the internet backbone for Austin. Damn the internet was fast…

:o I want fibre optic so badly but I a) cant find where to get it, b) doubt I could afford it, and c) doubt it works in my area.

fiber optics are cheaper than you think, runs for about $30 a month. have you looked about for verizon fios?

ive got adsl2+ which can get up to 24mbs upload of 1mb, but i live about 300m from our exchange so were only getting about 18mbs down
