Are you seriously kidding me? It took you a week to design this? I'm sorry, but how old are you? ... No offense at all, but that might explain a few things.

First and foremost, everything is green, while I understand that it's your favorite color...that doesn't mean that you have to make everything that color. 2nd, the site is not fullscreen...it's just up in the left hand corner...

Seriously, I'm just trying to help you out, but I'd do a few more designs on paper, or at least in photoshop to get a better layout, that really doesn't look childish and then go from there.

Keep at it.

The green is a little bright for me, but then, I'm more of a cool colors palette kind of gal...

I do like the name, though!

hey man chill out lol is this your first site? ifso i think its a pretty good start, you apperantly nailed down the actionscript part and its looking good. But a site also need to be attractive and appealing to the audience. I know green is your favorite color but its not necessary to use it on all of your site, you dont even need to use it at all. You shouldnt single your site down to one color because maybe your clients prefer diffrent, what I am trying to say is use a variety of colors. You should also work on text and diffrent fonts, dont use only one for the whole website! I think you could do much better. Go look at award websites and look at the award winning websites to get inspiration. take a look at www.thefwa.com , also read a few articles about web design, not flash but overall design. Remember to make your site clean and simple. Since your starting out, take alook at the tutorials here on kirupa. By the way in my opinion i think its too early for you to start looking for job offers because you dont know much of the design fundementals, and most clients would rather pay an extra penny and get there site designed by a proffesional with a portofolio. So keep trying and dont give up. For the rest of you who left unconstructive comments I think you should take time and look at this forums guidlines for this forum is a place to get help and critisisum on your projects rather than getting rude comments from people. If you dont like it then keep ur mouth shut or tell him what he can do to make it better. Dont just say this suck or put it in the trash.....

dont start your own webdesign business yet. its not worth it. you'll end up just wasting your money on hosting and never getting any clients by the looks of your site. you need to develop some more design skills before you try and tackle something like this. take some art classes where they will teach you about the colour theory(how colours interact with eachother, what goes with what, complimentary, secondary, tertiary, etc...) they'll teach you about lines(thick vs thin, broken vs straight etc...) they'll teach you how to paint which can be good for your portfolio too.

basically you want to get some portfolio pieces before you start your site. even if they are fictional companies. design some logos first for these fictional companies, then design the website and you can use that in your portfolio. nobody is gonna hire you by looking at that site.

Out of all those things unhelpfull I'm guessing the overal opinion over this site is a negative one...

Color scheme aka Palette can be easily seen here:
Choose one and use it one your site. This helps us people without any knowledge of color coordenation. Avoids single color sites as well.

You need to diferenciate from the normal sites you see.
This is a Flash site! Flash can have the same structure, but you need inovation to be a large part of it. Basicly! Get really nice pictures and make some transitions going.
Some people have large pictures of trees, birds, calm and relaxing scenary...
I say get some pictures of really nice and sexy women.
This is a trial site, as far as I understand it... So just have fun. Don't make your first site something important.

After you have those pictures... Whatever they are! Get the transitions going. Some simple ones include fading to background.

I know it's hard to get it all going with only one weeks experience under your belt, but you're going great!

Large, nice, clear, sharp pictures and a little text help sites out a lot.

Then you can turn your atention on how the general site looks.
Your buttons look somewhat childish.

The word to try and follow is minimalistic!
Change color to anounce mouse over, or make some background shape move across the button area, maybe a simple looking bevel and shine could fade in from 0% alpha...

Dropping buttons are old and don't look too nice.

Leaving the mouse cursor alone is also a nice idea.
For some reason most people don't like that.

Get some ideas from other posts in the forum. Just go over the ones indicating new sites in showcase.

Don't go beyond your knowledge, no matter what your thinking.
If you think it's too complicated, just go back down to something more simple and try again. Think it's too simple, then try something more complicated.

- Real Help is from here down -

Loose the buttons. Insert them into the bar above.

Loose the bar below that indicates the simple fact of what someone is going to read no matter what you do. The one you say Home, or About, blah, blah...

Your gradients are too simple, and letters too large.

Go with pixel fonts, so that smaller leters can be used.
Get a logo, and/or some images to fill the site up some more.

You need to get the gradients to look more like candy, shinny and sparkly.

Where it says Flash Websites is perfect to get a logo in. Something squigly, 2D and white. You need a lighter color in overall.

Maybe some very light browns in, like beach sand in some tropical paradise.

The logo could be a palm tree or a tropical bird... Some flower...

We all know you can make shadows, just don't over do it.
Too much darkness is tiresome.

very well said jolly_ fat_man, and for you can also go look at www.squidfingers.com there you will find verry nice patterns for a background for ur site. I agree with fat_jolly_man about the buttons, ther an old imo and it has been used man tiems, try something diffrent rather than orb/tab/capsule buttons, try making text buttons and fading ones. I also agree with apix, it is too early to start a company when you have nothing in your potofolio and you have very lil or no flash skills.

I think that this was probably a good exercise, and that you should probably scrap it and start a new page. Make it a little more about 'you', and don't worry about trying to start a business.

It's not that bad for a start... dont worry man.. but you need to think on other lots of things as others mentioned...

I like the menu effect though... I would not trash that one, if I were you I would update the navigation and remake body of the site... And everything is way too big, just make them proper size

Don't scrap the project!
Keep trying on this one until you get it looking better.

I just remembered something you could use in the site.
Area transitions. From About to Home, and others...
Slide the entire page to the side while fading out or something like that.

If you can't get some images for your site, then you need something pretty to look at.

We might sound like we are hitting you hard, but it's for your own good.
For 1 week of learning how to design that was spectacular, only these people here do this for a long time and they make ridiculously amazing sites. Sites that amaze professionals of the same area.
You are doing fine! Keep at it!
