I'm designing a fashion blog that is going to focus on t-shirts named "The Embassy of Tees" and need to have a header designed for it.
I'm looking for a trendy header that is 770px wide and 70-100px tall. Color combos are up to you, since the site isn't finished yet I can adapt it to fit with your header but I'd suggest submitting a few diff color combos of the same design that will give me more options to pick from.
One idea that I had for the header was to make a crest kinda like what you see on a lot of t-shirts at trendy stores (Examples: Shirt (http://content.neimanmarcus.com/products/mp/NMM007Z_mp.jpg) Shirt (http://www.buckle.com/images/us/local/products/detail/43770MTSHVAS_dt.jpg) Shirt (http://a1216.g.akamai.net/f/1216/955/6h/images2.nordstrom.com/ImageGallery/store/Product/Gigantic/3/_5148643.jpg) Shirt (http://www.buckle.com/images/us/local/products/detail/35895811_dt.jpg)) and then have "Embassy of Tees" in an edgy font next to it. Obviously you don't have to do that if you don't want to.
I'm offering $30 (minimum, maybe more) via paypal plus you can put it in your portfolio.
Let me know if there are any questions...

I'm not any good at graphic design so I'm not sure how to describe what I'm looking for but I'll do my best.
I would prefer (but not require; since you guys might have better ideas) that the header include some sort of coat of arms/crest on it. You can refer to my original post where I posted a few pics of t-shirt with crests on them to give you more ideas. A lot of times there is some sort of shield with designs/words on it, then there's an animal on each side of the shield (lion, griffin, unicorn) and often some sort of leaves or designs around it. I'm basically looking for something that looks like an embassy's crest since the site is EmbassyOfTees.com
In terms of the style here is a blog template that I like the look and feel of the header:
I like the header on this them alot, maybe some thing similar but with a crest instead of the guys's head. (http://osc.template-help.com/wordpress_10778/)
Also two more examples of crests:
Good example of a crest. (http://www.eisbar.com/)
Another good crest (http://www.guyshop.com/shop/guys/catalog/product.asp?pf%5Fid=strh%2DCRST&bt=strh)
I don't really know many fonts so just use something that looks good.
Is that helpful and did it clarify things some?

Well for some reason I got bumped from the battles and put in Low Profile instead. My goal was originallly to have a few designs by a few different designers so that I could choose the best one, but now i'm not sure what to do...
Anyway, if you're interested in doing the project I'll still pay $30, just PM me and let me know where I can see some of your other work.

its not a battle. I actually moved it here. Since there is a guaranteed money amount and this is something you can gain monetarily from. I placed it in jobs. You will get more serious entries here. Plus battles are more a of fun thing. We dont want companies or personal business being placed in there. Know what I am saying?
good luck on your job

battles should be banned.. period.. wastes people's time.. and screws those that attempt to make a living off doing the work seriously.. anybody that asks for something like this should be IP banned permaneantly for attempting to have many people work on something for nothing.. if people want to email the designers all privately away from this forum and set up a battle on their own forum somewhere then that is different, but i think on kirupa it should be removed completely since it hinders people's survival.
what if every employer just starts posting battle requests all the time..
then what? hmm.. something to think about anyways.
battles can be between designers on a private message basis or spoken of completely outside this forum.. seriously > who do these people think they are? requesting services from everyone at once and attempting to make it some type of game.. and at the same time offering less than what the task is worth to begin with.. it's different if someone said hey.. battle contest.. $500 to the winner for who makes me the best banner.. but to over less than what someone would usually charge and then end up getting multiple designs etc for that price just isn't right to anyone here that takes this place seriously in the least.. please stop allowing this garbage on here.. please..
( all those in favor say 'I' )
if i was admin i would say take your games elsewhere, and if the designers from here choose to go play games on some other forum somewhere then so be it.. but i wouldn't make it so easy for someone to use people in this way on a place that has serious designers and job seekers, etc.
DDD just think about it from those points of view that come from a struggle and rely somewhat on this place for survival, which i'm sure atleast a few do and appreciate this place very much so..
solution:
any request in the battle forum that seems to be for promotion of any kind of business should be removed and a warning should be sent and recorded to a database for that IP & also the username of the requester.
comment:
battles should be focused on innovation and creativity through conceptual creations, etc - not on beating out other designers for a 'prize' that has been offered by someone that is being cheap and somewhat attempting to take advantage of the people on this forum that can't say no to a challenge, such as myself =)
ps. i'm trying not to see things black & white, but it's hard not to.. the price of a battle request should atleast be set at a reasonable minimum for each type of request if not just completely banned as a stated earlier..
[reasonable minimum battle request amounts]
> Logos = $50 (/w animation + $50)
> Banners = $100 (/w animation +$100)
> Intro = $200 (/w animation +$250)
> Websites = $500 (/w animation +$250)
> etc...
..i feel those are reasonable amounts for the specified services to the winner of a battle, since if it is a winning submission it will most likely be worth these amounts if not more.

I seem to have struck a nerve with the idea of having a battle for my header design. I'm new to this so could someone tell me what the best route for me to take is?
I still want a header made but can't just throw $50-$100 out there to a designer when I have no clue if I will like what I get, so what is the better option?
----------------------------------------
On a side note, my blog might make some money in a while but its not like I run a t-shirt company or something, i'm just looking to post some tees that I think are cool. My goal wasn't to rip anyone off or anything. Right now theres another blog logo design under battles (http://www.kirupa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=225934)that is completely free and there is a playing cards battle (http://www.kirupa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=226303) for $5, I didn't think a blog header would be much more work than that and I figured $30 no matter what and if the design was on the level that I was hoping for then I'd pay more.

toddo - you did nothing wrong but placed it in the wrong forum. WHich I do at times. No love lost. ANyway you will receive much better attention here. Your price is ok, as those who participate know going in. Its just that others have turned the battle area into pity zone for free-stuff. SO just for organization sake I just put it here. no lets let this member have their thread back. Good luck to all who participate. (hint: if you up the ante, some more folks may get interested).
playing card battle is purely fun btw.

well... toddo... what you should really do is ask ppl to PM you with a portfolio of their work and you'll get back to them. That way you'll have a clue to which ppl are serious designers and which ones aren't.
as for battles for jobs and $$ we'll leave that up to designcontest.net and designoutpost.com

Ok I've modified my original post to no longer be a battle.
Anyone interested in working on the header should PM me and provide a portfolio or at a minimum a few samples of work that you've done before.
Cheers
