Hello fellas,
My first I think in S&E section. I was playing with flash 8 and I had this idea for my website, but as my website work has been on hold, I thought of posting this here.
Hope you enjoy.

That's pretty awesome :thumb:
Looks like a poster unrolling

you can use it in many ways.. blur the results high initially and then roll more than once and each time make sharpen, I will see if I can get that one :)
thanks. I am glad you liked

I love it! Great effect.
Tried to look at the fla. When I preview it I get this error.
**Error** Scene=Scene 1, layer=Layer 1, frame=1:Line 28: The class or interface 'com.effects.ImageRoll' could not be loaded.
var m_imgRoll = new ImageRoll(parent_mc, targetX, targetY);
Total ActionScript Errors: 1 Reported Errors: 1
any idea why?

That says that package class was not found
I downloaded and it seems to be working fine for me.

Hmmm. Moved the "roll image" folder back to the desktop, where it was unzipped, and it works there. Can't see any files related to it on the desktop tho....??

it should work regardless of the location. I think you had made sure that com folder is there with fla, right?

Really cool :thumb:
I think the progressive sharpening idea will make it even cooler…
I dislike how there's a large gray box under the image, though, once unrolled.

Oh that gray box is just a roller, I was thinking to add some texture to it but did not get time.
I have thought to use roller in my website as image transitions in gallery. So in that case that gray roller will be attached to a handle and it will looks like a hand is painting that image using roller.
I will see if I can update this very soon and get back :thumb:
Besides right now it is just for the images in library, but it could be used with external image as well just needed some modifications.

very clever trick u made there mate, i have been checking and in my opinion with a few fixes it deserves to go to best of kirupa, but if u turn the speed var to make it move slower u can see that the rolling isnt logical, i mean, if u roll an image, when it is unrolling u get to see the outer part wich is usually just the white back, thi is being a bit picky and probably u are already aware of that but just in case ^^, anyway its really brilliant, congrants!

hello varecha, I havent used speed var and is commented as of now. Rather I used that ANIM_DUR variable to indicate the duration or total animation. It's just the number you may use to increase or decrease the speed of animation.
And about the white back, here in my experiment I wanted it to be like if image is wrapped on a roller so when you roll on surface it will printing the image on the surface. So with rolling you will see the flipped image and not the white back part.

Thats amazing, if you made it so you could use external pictures you could sell it to people for their photo gallerys!

Thanks man :thumb:
I have never contributed source code to the community before, so this is my chance to give back something & community likes. After all I have learnt many things from community itself.
Though I am going to make it more versatile class/component. I am working on different animations possible and their direction/orientation.
