Deepend (http://www.deepend.com.au/) - this is how a Flash site should be.

That is very nice and clean :) I like it. Especially how it expands with the images to fit your resolution. (at least i think it does)

Deepend did more for digital media than 2Advanced ever did by the way. Well worth researching their story

Hmmnn... well thanks for the compliment... but I'm really only an average designer. But as far as my opinion of the site... it's not relative to my skill level :D. It's really clean, and pretty nice... but I didn't fall outta my seat. When someone says "this is how a Flash site should be" I'm prepared to give the "O" face... to much build up for the site though

The great thing about this site is it shows a lot of flash skill in a tastefull, relatively understated way. That is all too rare.

as for the website, yea it was cool. i don't know why developers feel the need to use the words XML in there preloaders... :snooze:

Hehehe fair enough. What WOULD make you give th "O" face? I'm thinking there's probably a reason it hasn't been done, or is nothing impressive?

I must know how they did their fonts... so clear. The small fonts in my site are so much blurrier.

Envy.

McGuffin: Have you tried tweaking the anti-aliasing settings? AA for animation, AA for readability, etc.

PS: ratbaggy, this thread was a little on the old side... ;)

McGuffin

It's created dynamically. I've tried everything, sharpness, thickness, even adjusting the AA rendering engine through AS. Always turns out crappy. Oh well, I'll find a way :P

I think some of you guys are looking at this website the wrong way. It's not a website that is suppose to "wow" you as for example 2Advanced did when they produced Version 4 of their website. Obviously, the animation and how the website is excecuted is well done but you also should realise how the website has been made is suppose to reflect their business. Their aim is to show what services they provide, what work they have produced and what direction they are undertaking. By saying that it is "clean, nice site", you missing the point.

I'm sorry, I don't agree with you guys, I find this site trite. The pictures aren't compressed very well and come out pixelated. Also the photos aren't even that interesting and they take up the majority of realestate.

Just my opinion.

I hear what you're trying to say minimal but I don't agree. Yes there is a deeper meaning there - brand identity, that they are trying to project. I don't think it's there yet. If the site is trying to exude, confidence and triteness then it succeeds. But, every company stands for solidarity what does this one have that no other has?

my 2 cents.

Anyone know how they are resizing the movie so nicely to fit any screen resolution???

Stage resizing event handlers to detect I pressume, followed by property messing around. Back on subject, this is quite the show.
