Hello,
The creation for > THIS < (http://www.crea-room.com/corsan/hessen)site runs to its end.
It's a site for a (film noir) movie that is in preparation. Purpose is to show investors the evolution of the production and making people curious about what's coming.
The site will very soon be launched and I wanted to verify what you, flashers, think of it.
If there are annoyances, mistakes, or suggestions for improvements or just remarks, please let me know.
You'll see there is a vote tool and a story db. Feel free to participate, but know that submissions will be deleted when the site will be transported to it's new server.
thanks in advance,
Sept

a little laggy, could definately use a frame rate increase

Frame rate is 24. I think that should do. I already remarked that, mostly on elder pc's, the falling stones in the intro get a shocky effect. A solution I was thinking of was to let cpu consuming actions happen one by one. There are also quite some Flash 8 effects inside. I already removed many. But for accessebility reasons, I was thinking to downgrade the site to FP7. The annoying thing with downgrading is that I've no idea how to replace the smoke effect. Tried some photoshop tricks, but never achieved an effect like F8 is able to.
What did you think about the rest of the site?

up the framerate to at least 35. its pretty slow

I dunno if it is just a slow frame rate, on the intro it feels more to do with the number of objects the lady and logo fading in all at once. However, the more I look the quicker some of those sections fade the better, it is a tad slow. But the lag on the intro needs addressing
Once the logo is in centrally at the start it feel as tho it could be nudged to the right a little.
i like the little film clips before, the shaking vibration motion looks really good.
The icon for the site could be better too, the 3d cube doesn't quite suit the site. How about one of the jewels instead?

thx unclesond for your constructive post.
-you're right about the too many activeties when the stones are falling. I will change that into a more ordered process. First I'm creating scrollbars for people using screenresolutions of 800x600.
-I don't agree about the logo. But I'll pay attention what others think of it.
Rgds.

It looks to me like the lag really comes from whatever script you're doing for the cigarette smoke. I think you'd be better served by a static and subtle smoke image. That would also solve the issue of going back to FP7. You may want to reduce the number of jewels dropping, or at least increase their speed a touch (which is getting back to the lag issue). It seems to take an awful long time to get navigation.

seems I've got still some job to do :)
I'll make the speed issue a priority.
I was also curious what you think of the contents from when the site is loaded. But maybe it's better to put this thread pending until the speed issue is solved.
I'll let you know when I'm so far. Hope tomorrow..
Anyway, you're comments were very valuable. Thanks for that.

Hello,
I updated the site. Most CPU consuming effects are removed. I couldn't downgrade to FP7, because of the use of the filereference class.
Here is the new link : NEW LINK (http://www.crea-room.com/corsan/hessen)
Normally, the sluggy intro should be much smoother now.
Please participate the "become a moviestar" contest. It is in a testphase and I need to know if anybody has troubles with it. You are free to submit dummy entrances. They will be removed later.
All comments are welcome.

loads smoothly with many objects, nice;)
i guess you should modify the nav a bit, first it goes diagonally, then the ourth button is suddenly down. maybe align them.
that smoke effect on the cigarette looked pretty good, logo looks nice too.
looking good so far;)
