loading tekst into flash from .txt file

hi ppl i'm new here. Got a little question.

I'm having trouble with loading texts from a txt file outside flash. I done this a lot and it works out when i just load it into a textbox to which i've added a scrollbar.

Few days ago i tried to make a scrolling movieclip. i thought it would be easier for layout because i needed textboxes and pics on the same scrolling page.... well in theorie it would have been nice :-\ . I can't seem to load the textfile(s) when i put em on there.

Is there anyone that could give me some pointers on this?

You need to be more specific or post your F5 .fla file.

i'm gonna try to explain but it probly won't be clear (i'm not that good at explaining) so i'll post the fla tomorrow.

I know there are tutorials around bout loading the content of .txt files into a dynamic textbox. but most (if not all) of these tutorials make you load the content into a variable which is then read into the textbox. You can add a scrollbar to this to scroll through big texts. And make a movie clip out of it for easy use. I've done this succesfully so no problem there.

What i'm doing now:

Because of layout issues i gotta have pics and text in one scrollable area. So i made a movieclip with 2 textboxes and a pic on it. i added a scrollbar to make the clip move between two _y-values. and put a mask-layer over it so it looks like a real scrollbox. All of this is put into a movieclip for easy (re-)use. So far so good. but when i try to load the content from my txt files in here it won't work. Probly doing something wrong because it's a movieclip in a movie clip i think.

And there are no tutorials to be found (i'm looking at all tutorial sites/ flash forums i can find, but so far no luck..... 6 hours of search today only --> :crazy: )

make sure that the paths are correct.

also, if you are using a mask you have to make sure that you have embedded the font. in the properties window click the character button and select "embed all" or something to that effect.
