Hi,

Is there a way to change an animated .gif file with, lets say 6 frames after import, into it's own individual movie clip?
I've messed around with it for a while now and can't seem to come up with a way to convert those 6 frames to an individual MC that I can apply other flash attributes to.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

Slight nudge (not a true Bump!)
- this question is more out of curiousity than anything...

Umm, if it was only 6 frames, I would probably do it manually :P

Strangely enough, I was trying to convert an animated gif file to an MC. My 1st thought was Kirupa.

So, I come here and do my search for "convert animated gif to movie clip" and BAM! Here's a post from 2006 by Me with the same question :ne:

haha - well, anyway, I'm a bit out of practice with Flash and I've come across a 24 frame animated gif that I would prefer to be a movie clip.
How would I go about doing this? (Looked all over Kirupa but can't find the answer).
I will attach the gif file..

Thank you in advance,
Rustyd

just open the gif in flash, select all the frames, and copy them, open a movieclip, and past the frames in the mc:thumb: , see you in another year when you have this problem again and do a search, jk

Ya, I too lost a bit of coffee there as well!

Don't know why I didn't think of that. Thanks for the response :)

But ya, since I found warcraft, I don't do much in flash anymore (hmm, not much else at all really!)

...if you create a new movie clip and Import to Stage your animated gif it will automatically import each of the gif's frames in order across your clip's timeline. Coincidentally, I found this out recently while trying to import a gif created with WoW Modelviewer. :}
