I'm still bored so i startin a new thread, i did a search for threads on rpg's didn't see any so i apologise if there already one. I was just wondering how many of you play rpgs like final fantasy, zelda, diablo 2 etc etc.. and what games you think are the best of that genre , i always open to a new rpg to play :D
Heres a :toad: just for the sake of it have a :egg: to :)

final fantasy hands down.

I like Zelda - though I am not sure it qualifies as a full RPG. As one of my friends pointed out earlier at school, in Zelda you pretty much know what the character is like. It's more of an action-strategy - I may be wrong though :)
Cheers!

HELLS YEAH RPG!!!
i've been playing Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind for the last 4 days straight. i mean, no sleep, just toast and jam kinda food cuz its easy. hahah. i just got it and its sooooooooooooooooooooooo cool. anyone into rpgs really who hasnt tried it should. its amazing. PLUS, you can take off all your clothes and run around and ppl will either make comments to you about how you should "have some decency" or the guys will check you out and be nice to you and stuff.. hahahah. dude, but seriously, you need to try this, it is so awesome, my charachter right now is a battlemage, and i just kicked this whole mob of evil dwearen specters and captured all thier souls (hard stuff) so i decided to celebrate by taking a few days off and diving for pearls and sunken treasure.. man, i gotta get back 2 the game.
anyways, aside from this game, by absulUTE FAVORITE is baldur's gate 1 & 2. with the diablos coming up soon after. this is so random, cuz i was totally gonna start a thread about rpgs. haha. but you did it first. :)
if you wanna know more about morrowind, tell me, and ill tell you, but i didnt wanan bore you with too much. :)

Best game series ever, hands down.... Diablo 1 & 2. Diablo 1 revolutionized gaming with the FREE online playing service. don't know if you've heard of it, battle.net.
Diablo 2 is just the best game ever. You can play a character for hundreds of hours and it never gets boring. Few game can pull that off.
Morrowind is pretty good as well. Only problem w/ it is it's kinda tedious. When you have to walk across the entire map 4 or 5 times just for one little quest, it gets kinda annoying. Other than that, it's very fun. I love killing an entire city :). :trout: TAKE THAT VIVEC.

you dotn have to do that, there are spells called mark and recall, that you can cast, and it's like, "boom" insta travel. they are cheap and easy too. just cast mark to mark spot, and whenever you wanan go back there, cast recall. :beam:

That works, but there are many quests where you go to 5 different spots, each 15 miles out of the way, and you CAN NOT FIND THEM. Even with gamefaq.com. I just didn't like having to spend 2 hours walking around trying to find something. Even though I'd occaisonally stumble across a place where there'd be uber items :).

Morrowind looks great and all , but it's too involved, i mean that game is sooo huge, i played it one day started in the morning and when i looked outside it was dark and then i realised i had played the game for a whole day ! :!: I mean the graphics are awesome and the gameplay is so involved but seriously who has this much time? ummm.... i'll be right back *get Morrowind cd out and quietly says "my precious"......* :P

ya know, honestly, it IS huge, and it IS vast, and it DOES require a lot of time to play. which is exactly why i am dropping out of school, quitting my job, and becoming a professional game addict as of two days ago.

I used to play diablo 2 all the time but for some reason i stopped and never went back. Baldurs gate 1 & 2 are classic games, i really enjoyed neverwinter nights to, that got some nice multiplayer options with the game builer.
I am tempted to try morrow wind it does look quite good, has it got ne online attributes? like teaming up etc ??
Has neone played dungeon siege?

lunar, morrowind = TOTALLY AWESOME.
no mutiplayer support though. but honestly, you don't need it cuz you could play this game for 2 years straight and never run out of stuff to do. and if you decide that you are done, there is a new addon, and also you can make your own stuff up. here are some screen shots. they are big. so be prepared.
Me outside my house in the cozy town of Balmura, after a loooong quest and a good night's sleep (http://pathofaith.digitalrice.com/temp/ScreenSHot-16.jpg)

Must say it looks very good, i think u have tempted me enougth :)
must have been the last pic "undressed for bed" that did it :P
How do u actually fight in it, what is the system, clcik and slash, turn based or like everquest etc?
Phew just finished my line art battle entry :hangover:
p.s. glad to see there are others who enjoy a good chill lol
Illuminae
April 29th, 2003, 07:01 AM
lol, i knew that 1/2 naked cyber chick would snare ya in. heehee. ;) anywhoo, it's good old click and slash to fight. these are the basic controls...
walk forward - W
walk back - S
walk right - D
walk left - A
shift - run
caps lock - lock run
tab - toggle veiws: you can play in 1st person veiw, that's hwo they claim it should be played, but i prefer 3rd person except when doing certain things like arranging items or swimming, but i almost ALWAYS fight in 3rd person, cuz when 3 peeps are attacking you at once, i think it's easier to see who's coming from where
and then you steer with your mouse.
spacebar - interact with stuff (talk to ppl, open stuff, pick up stuff, etc.)
right click brings up your menus, left click does stuff like attack stuff, pick locks, disarm traps, cast spells etc.
it's pretty easy to get used to the controls. i like it very much, and i'm real picky about controls, like i picked up wizardry, which is supposed to be a good game, but i couldn't get into it cuz the controls stunk. :)
p.s. if you do wind up getting it, remind me to tell you about a few hard to find secret awesome places. :beam:

I'm opting for the Final Fantasy series too. Not just games that are beautiful to look at and intuitive to play, but that have deep storylines and well thought out characters. :)
Suikoden is also good though, and Secret of Mana.

Wow... RPGs...
I am a huge RPG fan, have been ever since I played the first American FF (LIT4 Rocked :) ) I am always looking for new games to play... Some of the ones I have played are...
Japanese Numbers in brackets... :)
FF I (NES)
FF II (SNES) [FF IV Playstation]
FF III (SNES) [FF VI Playstation]
FF V (Playstation)
FF VII (Playstation)
FF VIII (Playstation)
FF IX (Playstation)
FF Tactics (Playstation) Sweet Game!
I am gonna buy the first two Japanese FF's this friday for the Playstation. Can't Wait!
Lunar Silver Star Story (Sega CD, Playstation) The SegaCD version is much better...
Lunar 2 Eternal Blue (Playstation) I am still looking for the Sega CD version if anyone knows where to find it PM me. :)
Vay (Sega CD)
Chrono Trigger (SNES)
Secret of Mana (SNES)
Chrono Cross (Playstation)
Magic Knight Rayearth (Super Famicom Emulator) This game sent me to my Kanji Dictionary several times. :p
Star Ocean 1+2 (Playstation) I didn't care for these much.
Arc the Lad (Playstation) Have yet to play this one, but it looks cool.
There is a game for the Playstation the I have played, but I can not for the life of me recall its title. Its where you fight mist creatures, and its kind of a martial arts RPG... I didn't like that one much either.
So if anyone knows of cool RPGs that aren't on my list let me know, I always love to try new things... =)
Cheers!

Iīm sorry guys, but clearly you donīt know what youīre talking about...
..with few exceptions, those games you listed are not RGP games.
For instance: Diablo
Awesome game, but nothing to do with RPG. I admit it resembles an RPG game but itīs not. It is an action game. period.
Who ever played the real RPG (D&D, Vampire, and etc.) know what iīm talking about.
<rd>
There are some awesome RPG games for PS1 like FF series, Lunar and etc.
But the best, and completly RPG games are in PC world. Such as:
Black & White, Baldurīs Gate series (the BGIII is coming up in a 3D engine :!:) and Neverwinter Nights (best so far).

i disagree about black and white. its totally a strategy, not an rpg. baldur's gate though, imho is the bestest PC RPG in the whole universe. its cool, cuz depending on who your party is made of, they have all sorts of random conversations and stuff, sometimes even fighting and whatnot, so it's just about the closest to an actual rpg. it's quite unpredictable at times. anywhoo, Lunar, if i slept at all i would be dreaming morrowind. lol. way way back when i first started playing BG, it was like that. i played all day and night, and then when i would sleep, i was off on another quest. haha.
hey you guys, i need an opinion. i just managed to get myself the BESTEST armor in the game, a full set of glass armor, includign a glass long sword, and i wanna enchant my sword and sheild, but i cant figure out what to enchant them with. i can use ready made spells, or even create my own. so i guess i just wanna see what you think would be the coolest. options i have been thinking about are:
cast fireball
cast poison
drain enemy health
restore my health
soul trap (that's a spell so that you can trap the enemies soul into a soul gem and use it later for enchanting and stuff, real valuable things those soul gems are)
restore my fatigue
cast blindness
paralize
ok. i could go on and on. just tell me what you think a kickass combo would be. and if you think fo a spell that i didnt list, theres probably one there. cept like "blow up town X" or something..lol.
NaliWarCow
April 29th, 2003, 08:08 PM
Don't enchant glass armor. It has VERY low enchant points. Enchante an extravagant ring or amulet. Or you can also enchant silk pants/brocade shirt, they have the same ep as the ring and amulet.
There are much better swords out there also. The best two are 1). on the fighters guild head guy & 2). Some guy has one that's really good.
Mine was the fighter guild guy's w/ shock enchanted w/ it. 1-60 chop dmg and 60-64 shock dmg per hit.
This is a SS of me standing over Vivec (god of Morrowind :) ).

NaliWarCow-
hehe, cool ss. power is grand. :beam:
right now i have been using the white sword of woe and a silver flameslayer mixed in with a little dwaeren war axe (spelling wrong i think) for the silly critters.
what's the best kind of armor to enchant? i really want an enchanted sheild, like the one in ghostgate, but i can't afford that right now, and i also wanna add something else to it (that one just restores your health). i'm really groovin on my green matching outfit..lol. maybe for my sword i should just find a silver longsword or something to start with? and i have a question, cuz im a nooB to the game. if i'm wearing an enchanted amulet, and someone hits me, will it have an effect? or do i actually have to use it in the magick slot?
also, have you met creeper? dude, that guy cracks me up. "heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehh im creeeeeeeeeeping" lmao
omg, you play a boy character, so you probably didn't run into this, but i got my heart broken by this rogue named, er, N____ O___. i met him on the road to pelgiad and then he asked me for a kiss, so i do it, expecting him to try to kill me with an evil kiss of death or something, but then he's just like hittin on me, and tells me to meet up with him at pelgiad. so next time im in town, this little note comes up saying "hrm, i should go check up with this dude". so i go asking around town about him and most people are like "he's probably at the tavern drinking and whoring as usual." which is upsetting to me, but i figure, surely he has changed his ways for our pure secret love. so i go to the tavern and talk to him, and he like, pretends he doesnt even know me. that crapface! i thought he would at least offer me some training or something. serves me right for falling for a rogue. :(
(lmao)(this game is too funny)
haha, funny side note:
you know you play video games too much when you are posting on kirupa, and over at the top where it says "vB Code" and then you can select normal mode or enhanced mode, well, you look at it and think it says "enchanted mode" heheheh
NaliWarCow

No armor is good for enchanting. Items have "enchant points" which tells how strong the spell is on the item or how many spells you can have. Armor has low EP, rings, ammys, and clothing (silk and brocarde) are the highest.
I have a ring w/ constant 4-5 health restored per second. That combined w/ my constant normal weapons dmg reduced by 25% means I don't get hurty by much. Those are my favorite kinds of spells on clothing.
The best thing on weapons is lightning dmg or paralyze. Paralyze rules, put it on some weak sword, then have your strong sword have lightning. paralyze them for 10 seconds, then switch weapons and pound them with your high dmg weapon.
I did meet that guy. When you're a male, you meet a woman standing where you met that guy. Then you have to run love letters from her to him :). Of course, I had to keep my evilness going, so after handing him the letter, i punched him in the face :trout:.
Creeper rules. I sold about 200,000 gold worth of stuff to him. He's such a sucker :).
Also, usually, you should just use the weapon type that has the highest level for your character. You'll hit more often and do more dmg with it.
Amulet's have to be on your body. You can only have one constant effect on at a time. But you can cast 5 of them (casting one, then switching to the next, then casting it and switching to next). The effects stay for the X amount of time even if you switch off it.

nope, thats two totally different people. i ran into her too, and did the glove/love letter thing. **** blitch didn't give me anything, neither did he. bah. love. humbug. hahaha.
but the dude she fell in love with is totally different then the one i kissed. (mine was cuter) hahahahahahah. omg. im pathetic.

Diablo I and II are not RPG's ... they might be in the RPG section, but there is no acctualy ROLE playing involved.. its a hack-and-slash game.. FUN.. most definatley! But like Kirupa pointed out Zelda aint technicaly an RPG either...

hey naliwarcow, tell me how cool this is.
i made a ring that makes me totaly invisible all the time. woohee! it's called "the One" hahah. how cheesey is that. i also made a silver sword called "SoulWraith" that casts soultrap, so i keep that around for when im about to kill something. and i enchanted my glass towersheild with sanctuary, im gonna do that for the whole suit of armor. the sheild has like 45 points though! the rest of it stinks, you were right, but it shoudl add up good. and also, i made an exquisite skirt enchanted with fortify strength. and now im down to like 16 gp, so i'm gonna spend the next week tryin to make some flow back. hehe. it's cool, cuz i got drunko the crab to sell loot to.

lol 2 years later we may have completed it, it probably don't take that long to complete its just all the extra side quests treasure hunting to do
Illuminae
May 2nd, 2003, 10:25 AM
yeah, exactly. like for example, i spent a whole day diving for pearls in this big lake, and i cleaned it out, and a day later i checked, and the pearls had respawned. hehe. talk about infinite treasure hunting. woohee!
Lunar_4u
May 2nd, 2003, 10:28 AM
r they always in same place or randomly spawned items so people gettin different things, are pearls worth much , can't u find like caves full of magical treasure n stuff or go mining for diamonds lol
Illuminae
May 2nd, 2003, 10:31 AM
there are some diamond mines yes. and there are some sunken pirate treasure ships. and there are VERY valuable things in dwemer ruins. more valuable then diamonds. ;)
and they are randomley spawned, but in an ordered sort of way. like, there will alwyas be a cluster of 3 kollops at point a. but at any given time, one or more of them may or may not contian pearls. see what i mean? but some things are ordered. like things that are important to the storyline

May 2nd, 2003, 10:33 AM

Lunar_4u
May 2nd, 2003, 10:38 AM
and wot about bits of flowers n stuff they useful to? and if i leave laods of stuff in say a house will it stay there?
Illuminae
May 2nd, 2003, 11:43 AM
yep. stuff will stay where you leave it. except i heard rumor of a bug that occasionally makes stuff dissappear. but i never had that problem. the patch is supposed to fix that, but i'm playing patchless right now cuz i'm afraid of screwing anything up if i install in the middle of a game. i should look into it though, cuz i dont think there wil be a problem. oh, also, i looked online a bit to see if there were any morrowind multiplayer patches floating around yet, and i saw something promising, but it was all in german. and i cant speak german. :(
as for bits of flowers and stuff, they are mostly used in alchemy. alchemy is VERY useful to learn. you can get trainign in it form people cuz i'm sure you aren't good at it yet, (neither am i, i dont think i picked it as one of my bonus skillls, but i'm learnign fast) but when you knwo alchemy, not only can you make your own potions and save yourself a fortune, but you can make them and sell them, and make loads of cash. also, some bits of stuff have helpful properties. like for example, if you eat a heather flower, it will fortify your personality. but it's only temporary. and only some stuff works on some races. and it also depends on your something level. i forget what it is, but when i get home ill look it up. :)
Lunar_4u
May 2nd, 2003, 12:12 PM
cool cool i'll get working on it, can you only train when u level or can u awlays when train up those skills, i hate it when it by level i sacred to spend points incase i spend them wrongly and takes me ages just thinkin wot to do lmao. I better go flower picking then, wot a brave strong knight i am :P
Illuminae
May 2nd, 2003, 02:32 PM
you can train anytime. just talk to some1 and if it says "training" in the top right, they will train you in something. "barter" is buy/sell stuff, "spells" are spells you write in your spellbook, and "persuasion" is when you try to mind play them. you need a good speechcraft skill to succeed, unless you bribe them, but basically the closer to 100 that little blue bar is, the more they like you and the cheaper their stuff is. or the more info youll get outta them. stuff like that.

All this morrowind talk is making me want to sart another quest....but this time as a dark elf.....
Illuminae
May 2nd, 2003, 04:43 PM
i fell in love with a dark elf....
he broke my heart though when i caught him at the pub hiding behind another mage's robes.... :(
its ok though, cuz when i confronted him, he offered me free training. so i took him up on his offer, and then cut off his left hand, for 'rememory'
