Pattern Question

how does one create a pattern like that?

I know how to create a pattern that repeats left to right and up and down

but i don't how to make it so the corners continue each other

if you right click and 'view background image' then you'll see what one tile of that background is like...

so you can see that the bottom and top line up (because it's a straight line) so it just continues on! It's not actually diagonal, it is a left to right/up down pattern like the other ones you know how to do. It's just offset within the tile.

then if you go back and look at the tiled background, then you can try and see where one tile ends and the next begins... it'll help you conceptualise it for your own stuff.
