OK, as I've just explained monsterpodo, 'la masse' means the mass (hum... OK, I know you all guessed that) which can be interpreted in French as 'really good'. If you say that you're a mass at math, it means you're very good at it, or that you're a fat liar.

The reason why I chose this was that I was a total **** at Flash when I arrived here. Unfortunately, now that Supra, Upu, Thor and Bernardo have taught me a few tricks, this can sound like I'm bragging. But I'm not. Honnest. Well, maybe a little bit.

I'd be most interested in Phil's explanation of his nickname...

Well, I've already explained it in the beginning, but for those of you who are new, I'll go through it again. :)

Upuaut is an Ancient Egyptian god, one of two jackle gods, the other being anubis.

Upuaut is the "opener of ways", who's duty it was to lead souls to the Duat where their hearts could be weighed against the weight of a feather to determine if they were worthy of a place at Osiris' side.

Upuaut is also the name of a small knife used in the process of releasing the soul

Lastly, Upuaut, and UpuautII are the names of small robots designed by a German robotics engineer, the second of which was used to explore and clear the shafts in the Queen's chamber in the great pyramid of Giza. UpuautII was the discoverer of a tiny stone door with copper fittings at the end of one of these shafts, which as of yet has not been able to be opened.

anyway, with my name, i came up with it by rearranging the name of a fictional character i really adored (a while back).
the original name was "Sephiroth" (from Final Fantasy VII). I reversed the name so it became "Htorihpes", but that didn't look too good or sane to pronounce, so i switched the necessary letters and it finally became "Thoriphes". in conclusion, i can't really say that my nickname was really original, but it sounds pretty cool. if i have a kid, im gonna name him "thoriphes". lol, it's funny when i explain people what it means as opposed to how i got to it. i say that "thoriphes" was among the strongest of the Greek soldiers at the time ("thor" meaning strong and "phes" sounding pretty greek to me). of course, i'm lying. i don't really know if there was anyone named that. so to let my legacy continue, i'm gonna introduce the name "thoriphes" to the world. muahahaha. in a thousand years...President Bill Thoriphes...in two thousand...King Thoriphes XXXIII....in three thousand years..."then Thoriphes said...let there be Flash...and there was, and He thought it was good..."

When I met him, I decided that was too many syllables so I shortened it to "Dubba". He didn't like it at first, for a few reasons that don't have anything to do with this story. So he called me Jubba (because my first name, Jeff, begins w/ a "J"). So Jubba became my name. However, when I went to register for the ezboard name of Jubba, it was taken. senocular was derived from 'nocular' which is the domain name I currently own. That was derived from just brainstorming on the following requirements I layed out for myself in deciding what ot register.


something unusual and 'cool'
something w/o hyphens and which can be easily to somewhat easily spelled through just hearing it
no greater than 8 characters
non-compund word (as many sites seem to be now-a-days)
of or relating to something visual, as it would be a vehicle for my own visual expression (that has yet to happen heh)


nocular is what I came up with after 'binoculars' at some point sprouted up in all my brainstorming. It was available and I took it. Then I started registering the term with the common portals/chat clients. I hit a snag with Yahoo! though. Someone had already registered it there :!: So then I had to think of something else, (even though I had already gotten the domain at this point).

From there I decided to derive something off of nocular either through some sort of a prefix or suffix. I did a search and senocular was one of the things that came up. the se prefix meant 6 which I thought related well with there being 6 sides to a cube, and after all, I went to college to learn 3d modeling (however, I couldnt get into any of the programs there until my 5th year because, well, my uni sucks - but as a consequense its how I got involved in flash etc., so I cant complain too much ;)).

Then, from se I also derived the pseudonym Santiago Esperanza, which you might have already noticed if you've emailed me before.

i got this name because i used to wear a lot of orange clothing from GAP (it used to be in fashion dammit! honestly!) I had bright orange truosers and matching orange body warmer (shudder, can't believe i used to wear that stuff).

Basically i used to look like a beastie boy.

I don't wear that stuff now, but the name has stuck with me. (mates think its cute). Also, because of my job i get to wear orange clothing still anyway (im a railway engineer. Railway=high-vis orange clothing. Grr.)

Well, I'm kind of new too, and I didn't read the previous thread, so here it is:

I came up with the name "Kajinku" when combining the Japanese words "Kawazu" (= frog) and "Kajika" (= singing frog). I kept the "u" from Kawazu and put an "n" to make it easier to pronounce. Why? To have an original nickname.

Anyways, my last name "Depuydt", has the exact same pronounciation of the Flemish word "de puit", which means "the frog". Basically, when saying my full name in Flemish, it means "Mathieu the frog". Voilà. :)
