I've got a Samsung 930BF right now, but I'm looking for one for my other computer, and possibly a second one to go alongside my Samsung. Not looking to spend anywhere near as much as I did for my current one... The local PC shop has some Acer 19" for AU$399, which is the cheapest I could find, but I was just wondering if there was anything else in that price-range.

As I said, I'm looking for something in that price-range.

Have you tried costco.com?

Do they do the Dell Days of Deals in Australia? If you're not in a rush, you could wait for one of those to come along... we're having one here in Canada and there have been some OK deals for LCDs.

Try the following website, great for finding stuff like this: http://www.pricewatch.com

Just scroll down to peripherals and look at monitors. The cheapest 19" LCD I see is listing at $189, but the price may be different in Australia.

On a side note, I'm glad to see so many people buying LCD's. It allowed me to buy a 22" flat screen CRT for only $169. *grin* Looks great dualed up with the 19" I had been using.

Yes, but how much was the shipping?

And what about the doctor bill for getting your hernia repaired after you tried to move that monster! :P

Shipping was about $25. So sum total for a Mitsubishi Diamond Plus 200 22" CRT was under $200.

The hernia was free. :P It was pretty damned heavy, that's for sure (again... all things being equal, this is another reason an LCD would trump a CRT of course).

To chime in on an old thread... did you get the screen? Are you part of overclockers?

www.overclockers.com.au

After being on the forum for 3 months, you're given access to the absolutely brilliant trading section. But even without that, the sponser specials they have are good too. There is/was a 20" panel for around $500.

Yeah... The way I see it, technology prices are so competitive that you're not really going to get anything highly significant from a 'special'. Maybe $50-$100 off for a screen...

I just ended up going to the local PC shop and grabbing a 19" MAG LCD for $359 :D
Looks just fiiiine next to my Samsung 930bf...

I think I signed in to Overclockers once... maybe one post :P

$50-$100? Try $400 odd off... :D

Some of the specials there are actually very good - most likely, i'm guessing, because they can be guaranteed a very tasty bulk purchase from the community there.

Apart from that, the second-hand trading section has a massive turnover of components.

Anyway you're better off not being there, I spend waaaay too much time window shopping in it...
