I'm not a (free) counter user but I know people who are always looking for them. I'll try to remember to have them check out your site. :)
Is the site completely done? If not.. just a few suggestions:
The Google ads on the far right (main page) cover your text.
Might be good to let people see the available counter styles.
Too many Google ads on the other pages (features, signup, credits).
That last suggestion may not be a big deal to some people. I just think it makes the site look a little desperate to make money rather than provide a service.

sorry, already using www.statcounter.com and it looks like it has more features than yours (at the moment), but best of luck
PS. would be worth showing a demo of how the reports/code looks for those interested to know how it works.
PPS. I agree, far too many google ads (and they even appear on both sides of thes screen I thought I'd lost the content!).

Good point. It would be nice to see what the code looks like. Especially if people are concerned about if the code would validate. Like I said I don't use counters, but the people I know who do, well I'm usually the one coding their sites. So I always validate the X/HTML and CSS. :)

Why do people use hit counters?
Also, what do your hit counters look like? I can't find a picture…

Why do people use hit counters?
Not sure. Maybe to prove how "kewl" they are? It gives them the chance to say things like, "hay dood u c the # of hitz im gettin'?"

lol Nokrev... No comments about you. lol. Well some big sites would like to use a hit counter for affiliation purposes. Let's say some random site wants to affiliate kirupa... And kirupa says: "The only condition is that you have to get 5000 hits monthly." These "hit counters" tell you and it's faster for other sites to instead of asking... Get it yourself. And as Ankou said, some noobs use it to show off. :)

the site looks very unfinished.... kinda liek a template that needs more content.... definitely add some pictures of the counters..
on a side note, dont most hosts already give you your site stats? Like with all my sites I can jsut log in and it says like 500,000 page hits / 2,000 visits. No need for a counter, and you get more information and statistics this way.... and people don't get to see it, since they kinda look unprofessional.
wow i think this might be my first psot in server-side...

Aye… actually my host doesn't provide those stats directly… there is a guide to installing awstats in the host's forums. I bought Mint, though.
Mint rocks. Yeah. Mint rocks. Yeah. Mint rocks.
It's pretty sweet. ;)

Nah, mine's weird. They don't have cPanel and such… but they have tons of other cool stuff. It's strange… they're unlike most hosts (in a good way). Pretty much… you can't be a n00b and host with them.

cPanel has a bunch of stats show, awstats even graphs stats I think. It's pretty cool. It makes a graph even on the % of people from each country that visit your site. cPanel rocks!

Like with all my sites I can jsut log in and it says like 500,000 page hits / 2,000 visits.
Yeah?, well mine says 700,000 page hits / 4,000,000 visits. n00b :sure:

It's not cPanel that is doing that. That's AWStats. AWStats can easily be installed without cPanel.
Of course, Mint is 100000x better than AWStats. http://haveamint.com/

What I'm thinking is that you want people to use your counters. The more information that you show them the more likely they are to use them.
Showing examples of what the counters look like before the sign up would probably help people decide if they want to register or not. I know if I were looking to sign up for a counter I'd want to know what it could look like before I registered.
And code examples are nice to show as well. Keep in mind that there are people with HTML knowledge who don't know a server side language. If they're looking for what the code may look like it would be nice to show them.
It just boils down to the fact that you want people to use your counters. The more information they can get before signing up means the better the chance will be of them actually registering. If you don't buy that think about when you look for a web host, if they didn't provide you with all the info you were looking for would you sign up? Or move on to a different host and see what info you could find there?
