100% width TOO wide!

Hi people

I have a strange question in 2 parts:
Sometimes, when i have a table width of 100% (nested), the edges are cut off as if it is too long... Any ideas? (same is true for divs)
Sometimes I get a horizontal scrollbar on a page with content that is not too wide, no matter how wide i make the page...
:hair:I dont know if the 2 are related, but they are both a little puzzling.
I am quite familiar with CSS and HTML etc, but this is just odd?
