Shows how times have changed...

when Janice did it, it was sooooo coool...

We loved it when Jimi was so freaked he forgot the lyrics...

You pay for a show, quality is not guaranteed (I see a whole bunch of shows each year - 2 yrs ago I saw 250 shows). Sometimes it is spiritual, sometimes it is a garage band on 'ludes.

The next thing these guys will want a refund because their football team didn't play as well as in the past...

Pfffff! Weenies...

umm Creed is not a Christian band...

they were point blank asked on VH1 like 3 years ago....the lead singer's father is a pastor so he said his upbringing influences his songs to have a spiritual connotation; but as a whole the entire band is searching for that faith answer still...

that yes some of the songs were about seeking God in a way but only because of what his life has led him through...he made it clear they weren't christian.

that's disgusting about the concert though

I think they are still looking for good songs and talent as well.

it happens.

I saw Jerry Cantrell a few years ago, and was totally disappointed. I walked out on Black Sabbath because Ozzy was so drunk he fell off the stage.

Should the band charge more when they have an enlightened evening?

The best thing people can do to get the message across in Chicago is stop buying thier merchandise, stop playing thier songs, and don't buy any more concert tickets. An organized email campaign can do wonders...

I was fortunate enough to be one of the 250 people at a Ben Harper solo acoustic show last year in June... The room was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop. An experience like that changes me in small ways for the better.

It's hard to explain, but it is kind of spiritual... sort of... especially when it happens outdoors... at that point in time, nothing else matters, and tranquility happens upon me.

Christians face challenges often unknown to others.

Why do people celebrate when a Christian stumbles? People, people, people. :-\

Hey Phil ...

I wasn't directing my post at any one person ... just commenting on how some people do a pixie dance any time a Christian makes a boo boo. :player:

Hmm ... what's your take on the correlation? :nerd:

You would have to kill me, then drag my dead body to the concert for me to go see Creed.

My friend actually had free tickets to a Creed show and he asked me if I wanted to go.... I was like "No, screw that, I got better things to do"...lol.

You can be a Christian - and still choose to not be in a Christian band. Seems a little odd, but the option exists ... and Creed has chosen (poorly) to do so.

hmm... I'm Catholic and Christian, but I think that I haven't listened Creed.

I don't like Christian bands. They sound stupid to me :)
I listened to one Christian band in my school last year. *weah*
I went to their concert because I could skip two stupid lessons. Ah, they were terrible and my friend and me had to leave.

REV: I feel you on that last post re: the Ben Harper concert. Since I've been attending school in Santa Barbara I've gotten to share in a few similar experiences. Here's just one senario that was awesome... before anyone outside of SB or the surfing community knew about Jack Johnson I saw him play on State St. (for people other then REV, it is a main st through DT SB with tons of killer spots... anyway) at a record store... they let in around 100 people then locked the doors. It was absolutly amazing... he played then hung out with us for a while then played some more. Then later I got to see him AND Ben Harper at the SB bowl (once again... it is a out door ampitheater that is pretty intimate, but still decent size). Both experiences, esp the first were... well... words can't describe - just an awesome feeling!

Peace

PS I also got to see Dave Matthews and Ben Harper in Denver! heehee

Ryall

I agree... I never understood that... I mean... "I think youre sooo great...blah, blah, blah" just go to the concert and buy the albums - when they get rich they'll know you love 'em - and do people actually think that an entire band sits down to take a moment and appreciate that fact that billy or sally just loves them?! I mean if you went through some tramatic event and their music helped you through then I can see it and I am sure they'd appreciate something like that - but 99% of that stuff they get is crap.

That brings be to something else (as I continue my rant) these shows on MTV and such where you get to spend the day with your favorite band... sounds ok I guess, but when they show up WHAT THE HELL DO YOU TALK ABOUT???? "hi, I think youre great, this is soo amazing for me..................... ............. .............. .............. ........... ........... ......................so........... um...........

I mean seriously, that would just be weird.

Peace

Ryall:

I'm not a big Dave Mathews fan... he's okay... I didn't go to the shows with Ben and Dave together... too big of shows (stadium) in this part of the country...

I am going to see Ben @ the Greek in August... I've seen him probably 10-12 times now (first saw him in 1994 when he opened for Ali Farka Toure @ the Fillmore, and he blew me away). The best have been outdoor shows, up in the mountains at night...

Jack Johnson opened for Ben that night @ Bimbo's... plus a bunch of spoken word by teen poets... WOW! what a night.
