I need to make a few similar actions. For example, 10 images must have one caption and 10 other images have to have a similar (but not identical) caption.
However the positioning of the text has to be in the same exact place. Is there a way to duplicate or copy actions?

sure.
just go to the action you want, right click and select duplicate action :)
then you can always go in and modify the parts that need to be different.

Thanks for the tip, but it does not work on mine. I have Windows XP installed with Adobe Photoshop 7.0. Is there another way to do the same thing?

umm i'm not sure why it's not working, it should work even in PS7.
check this site for example : http://www.arraich.com/ref/aapalette_actions6.htm
if you look near the bottom where you see the "actions palette menu" you'll notice "duplicate" right under "new set"...
oh, but you have to press the little palette menu icon (the triangle), not right-click.

you could use conditional actions with image ready and set two conditional steps in your actions, therefore you can have all the similar actions after those condition and not have to do two diff actions.
