Not too hard

you have your dynamic text box,

lets call it

percent_txt

make another dynamic text box and name it exactly the same,

make sure the fonts in both are embedded

flip the second textbox vertically and place it underneath the first one

on a new layer draw a white square, fill the white square with a gradient that is white-to-0%alpha white and place it so that the opaqe part of the gradient is on the bottom, the transparent at the top, and position it on top of the second text box to make it look like its faded

... and make sure you disable hilighting ;)

at least for the shadow.

Thanks for the help, everyone. I actually figured it out after I'd typed this post. I wanted to do something similar on my upcoming site.
