Drawing Battle - Traditional Media

Well finally I feel we need to start somewhere for such battle so here it is!

Media : Pencil, Charcol *
Title : "wind from my window"

*no colors, except greys :)

Main factors of judging will be
drawing skills,
shading techniques (forms),
creativity in expression of the title
etc...

1. Let's get the list of participant first, raise your hand to get in.
2. Each participant will post finished work before the deadline here. (they can post work in progress if they wish)
3. Total time 26th Mar to 16th Apr (last date to submit final). (so you have 2 days to decide and Sunday to work :) )
4. Only one entry for the final.

Let's see ( :stare: ) some good(great) traditional art skills from Kiurpians :kommie:

Nope the rules and such sound good, can we interpret the title any way we want? The due date might be a little too soon, just because some of us don't have a ton of time to just go home and draw after work, but it's manageable ... oh and good choice of the title by the way, should provide some interesting works :thumb:

I think 2 weeks would be fine, I just need time between work to actually do a decent piece if I'm going to do this...I don't want it to feel rushed ya know? That and 2 weeks gives at least 2 weekends to work on it as well...and keeps the deadline short enough so people don't forget about the thread. Let's go with that.

Also, can we submit more than one piece? Or is this just to be one and only one piece? I say we keep it to one piece for each title that we might do...

so like 1 piece for this title, then if we decide to keep this battle going we come up with a new title and you can choose if you would like to enter another piece and stay in the battle etc. ?? sound good to everyone??

For this better I think participant can enter ONLY ONE ENTRY FOR FINAL....

We can continue this with next title after deadline reaches.... so it can also be like best of 3... if time permitts and everybody gets interested...

I will make a list of participants and update the first post...

Meanwhile can somebody also lookafter in case I disapear for one day because I am moving to another house nearby so I dont know how fast I will get my connectivity back... Or I will come to old home for checking in... But in case somebody be my backup (from judges)

I said I was in before the start date, however I was not added to the list. I am using 3 1/2 x 11" high quality computer paper here. I dont think media or paper should matter all that much; a small picture can be better than a mural.

And actually paper should not but still paper texture can change the way image looks... so as long as it's standard paper and preferablly white it's great going for us...

And yes forgot to mention... Anyone can come in till last date...
(but i would say please dont submit any old work you have done that matches the battle title)

i cannot agree with the paper selection
Computer paper of any kind is way to smooth to use pencil or charcoal properly

yeah computer paper doesn't work at all with charcoal, but i think that if the participant wants to use it, then let them...i also think we should set a size limit to the piece as well...because some may not have access to certain materials such as a canvas etc...

so say no bigger than 18 x 24" (small poster size)large enough to get what you want and small enough that people can use a lot of different sizes under that ... i'm most likely just going to use an 18" x 24" 10lb sketch pad paper to do mine...

Also, I think there should be a rule to prove the person actually drew it by drawing like a logo or something next to it so people don't google image for sketches by leonardo da vinci. :worried:

I think size is ok... About paper I think you all artists have to agree on something if you feel paper should be a specific one.

You guys, just use sketchbook paper, nice and thick :thumb2: I don't really think paper is such a huge issue. People aren't going to get all worry jumbled over someone with a slight texture in theirs since it really comes down to the actual drawing.

I hope that everyone gets the meaning behind my piece ... the quality of the image taken doens't show what is wrote on the piece of paper on the desk ...

It's a bill and the baseball is supposed to represent childhood and how people get so caught up with being grown up and the stresses of adulthood that they forget what it's like to be a kid and just have a little fun every now and again ...

(...sorry thought I should clarify what I was going for in the piece since you might not be able to make everything out due to bad picture taking on my part...)
