it's always a good idea to post a link to the tutorial... in this case it's under flash 8 which i wouldn't expect, but i found it by googling:
http://www.kirupa.com/developer/flash8/gradient_art.htm

also, if you can post what you DID come up with we can see how to help better. i assume you managed to finish the tutorial so it wasn't a problem with the actual technical aspect...

all i can suggest is that you recognise the limitations of doing it in flash. Like he mentions, if you really want the mac wallpaper effect you'll have to look to something like photoshop. in particular, the sinedots filter which you can d/l is pretty good, makes some nice effects quickly. in fact, there was a thread in drawing and design not long ago about this wallpaper, maybe search for that thread and see what they say.

I wrote this tut just to give idea of a simple technique that can be used.. then you can move on with advance effects using Photoshop or some other tool using advance techniques...

That tutorial is a very begining of such gradient art... you can always go further with different tools like photoshop to achieve realistic look of mac wallpaper or something else...

so if you dont have exact to mac wallpaper dont worry. same concept you can use in photoshop and add more realistic effects...

also this thread may help you...

I will try getting some tut if possible... and if ppl are really interested...

No offense theflash but that tutorial is quite poor, and I wonder how anyone could come up with the apple-style backgrounds.

As I've stated in the thread you linked to (http://www.kirupa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=207765), the free 'sinedots' plug-in is as far as I know the easiest way to achieve the effect.

No offense taken mlk... It is my first tut by the way and I used flash... I selected flash because I wanted to introduce basic fundamentals of gradients and it's a general topic, "Gradient Art" (I am glad Kirupa selected that name). So it's not exactly to make that mac wallpaper.

It was no meant to achieve realistic effect but for referece I told that we are going to create something like that... (may be that is why ppl find it misleading, I could have mentioned in the beginning itself that it's not realistic approch to make that wallpaper)

Anyway thanks for the comments will help bring level up in my next tut.

And I know that method discussed in that previous thread is a very good approch to make MAC wallpaper.. That is why I directed him to that forum directly...

Nothing like arguments, just some clarifications I hope will help you understand..

Thanks...
