Everyone keeps talking about how macs have to use an emulator to run programs now the cpu switch has happened and that you shouldn't buy one until this is fixed. Is it a matter of them making a new OS? When will this problem get fixed?

I'm thinking of getting a mac laptop sometime soon:tb:

Technically it doesn't matter much. It's if you buy a mac now, you have to emulate the current software because they aren't natively supported on the Intel mac yet. In about a year or two, most programs will be converted to intel mac based and everything will run smoothly. But then, your laptop will probably not at the top of the line in terms of speed.

So it's really up to you - if you buy a mac now, you will never experience the top speed of the market.

There are a lot of native apps out already (check the Apple site for details about which one). Photoshop should be native at the end of the year or the beginning of next. I've heard that the emulation is pretty quick though, so it shouldn't be too big of a problem.

I'm planning on buying my Mac right before I leave for college. I was going to do it like.. last week, but I decided I can't afford it right now :P
