I just bought a Motorola RAZR from Verizon (my Mom's got a family plan) and it sucks. Verizon took away the file transfer, (I realized that after I spent 10 bucks on a cable) and I can't put stuff on it. It's REAL SLOW, and there is zero expandibility. My friend has this phone (http://www.verizonwireless.com:80/b2c/store/controller?item=phoneFirst&action=viewPhoneDetail&selectedPhoneId=1941) and it's got a keyboard, which is awesome. I send like a bagillion text messages a day, and it's getting old typing with the numbers. I realized that I want a smartphone. I've narrowed it down to two:
Treo 650 (http://www.verizonwireless.com:80/b2c/store/controller?item=phoneFirst&action=viewPhoneDetail&selectedPhoneId=1741) - $300
XV6700 (http://www.verizonwireless.com:80/b2c/store/controller?item=phoneFirst&action=viewPhoneDetail&selectedPhoneId=2200) - $400
These support bluetooth, a keyboard, slots for memory, and all that good stuff. I haven't had a chance to use either the Palm or Windows Mobile software yet, and I was wondering what the good and bad things were? Can I download apps on the computer and put them on the phone?
I think the XV6700 looks better, but it costs more. Also, the keyboard is bigger. It says it supports Broadband Access, but I'm not quite sure what that is.
Anyone have good/bad experience with these? Can you reccomend better ones for Verizon?
Thanks,
Andy

A friend purchased the treo for $137.00 bucks just head on over to ebay and get yourself a smartphone cheaper and no contract obligations which is the best part :thumb:
You can install apps on it via active sync if ts a windows mobile phone, I have flash plugin, opera, acrobat, some emulators and office installed on my smartphone its really awesome and yes it supports broadband internet with evdo which is the same as dsl its fantastic.
You can also hook up your smartphone to your laptop and have broadband internet usng your smartphone enabling you to have wireless internet anywhere :thumb:
good luck

I looked at that one, and I decided I didn't want it because if I bought it from verizon it would be like 500 dollars, and it doesn't come with a camera.
I'm lookin for one that has a bagillion of useless features, basically. :}
Thanks again,
Andy

If I get the XV6700, (Which I think I might because it looks better than a treo and the keyboard is larger) is it as easy to install apps and stuff onto it from the computer? We don't have any PCs in our house, (it's awesome  ) but my brothers have Palms, and there's Mac software for that, so it works out.
Thanks,
Andy

Ok I went to the Verizon store and decided to get the Treo, because:
1. it's cheaper than the XV6700
2. it's smaller
3. it seemed like there's more programs and stuff for palm
4. Palm is compatible with Macs out of the box.

Yep, they want people to pay for ringtones, pictures, etc. I think they're really screwing themselves over here, because most people want to transfer contacts and calenders and stuff, and they can't. Ugh. Verizon makes me sick.
Now what I gotta do is get one of those SD cards, so I can load it up with garbage.
Thanks guys for your opinions!

Yes, Palm is far more compatible with macs than PC's like andizzle stated. The largest down side is the letter reconization for Palm which having one for 4 days is no where close as good as pocket pc's. Just if you were planning to write out long text messages. I dont know if it works the same, but you have to pay for extra programs on Palm like VNP (needed to connect to works network).
Windows Mobile 2003 crashes as much as the Palm's OS so your even there. lol.
(the razor is really fun but if your bad with buying games/ring tones DONT GET IT).
